The market town of Ellesmere with its Tudor, Georgian and Victorian buildings quietly nestles between the Shropshire Meres and the well-known Shropshire to Llangollen canal. This town boasts a church with a 15th century roof and was home to Thomas Telford during the building of the canal network in the late 18th century. There is also a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as an abundance of attractions in the surrounding area.

"Being the first people to stay in this place was honestly a total honour. A beautiful shepherds hut in a beautiful place with hosts who couldn't be more helpful. We were there for two nights but i wish it had been longer! The villages nearby were lovely, and while we weren't really sure what to do (it was a last minute impulse booking!) we found plenty of little chilled spots to have a drink or go rowing on the mere in Ellesmere and then were perfectly happy to sit in the little garden that surrounds the hut and have a bbq and watch movies outside or read a book on a picnic blanket and just enjoy the surroundings on the lovely farm. I am totally fascinated by working farms so I do wish i had asked to see the calves and cows as offered in the visitor book but didn't want to be a nuisance, although Sarah was so lovely i'm sure she would have done her best to accommodate! When (yes when!) i go again i might pluck up the courage! Absolutely go visit this place!"
