Thirsk is known as the gateway to the North York Moors National Park and is also within reach to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It houses a market place, Georgian buildings, a Norman church and a wealth of pubs, shops, restaurants, a cinema and a leisure centre. It also houses the World of James Herriott Museum, where you can discover the town's famous vet and author.
