Reviews
"We recently stayed at Drovers rest and it was a perfect base for walking Hadrians wall. It was clean, well stocked and extremely comfortable. There is an excellent bus/train service on your doorstep and a lovely pub opposite ( the black bull) The owner was there to meet us on arrival and left us with a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates.... thank you very much. We would definitely recommend this apartment and would stay here again should we return to holiday in this area."
"Nice, very friendly welcome from the owners. Excellent furnishing, spotless accommodation - really everything we needed. Apartment centrally located, quiet, despite being in the centre of town with Sainsbury's just a short walk away. Close to bus stop and railway station with many interesting places to visit nearby and within convenient travelling distance. Local people very friendly. Brilliant weather for the entire stay."
"This first floor apartment was large, spotlessly clean and the feature bay window allowed plenty of natural light. The kitchen was fully functional with a large dining table and two very comfortable settees to watch the large flat screen TV. The spacious bedroom was clean and comfortable with plenty of storage. The large bathroom was only let down by the smallish shower however there was constant hot water and plenty of towels provided. The apartment was located in the middle of a very friendly town with easy walking to the supermarket and the local (extremely hospitable) pubs. A short walk to the train station makes this apartment accessible to those without a car. This was an ideal spot to visit Hadrians Wall as well countless walks and we would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends and relatives."
"Set on Main Street opposite the market place very close to shops pubs and bus stop with Sainsburys at the back it couldn't be more convenient we were met by Stella who was very friendly and helpful, there was chocs and wine which didn't last long but thats another story. There are many leaflets on the surrounding area. Everything we needed was supplied in short it could not be faulted. If you want pies you must try Billy Bells just up the road"
"It was our second stay here in Haltwhistle at the Drover's Rest. A warm welcome again with added touches from the owners. A lovely village atmosphere with plenty of good shops on the high street, all of a good quality with very friendly and helpful people. This time we left the car parked and used the local buses, which were very convenient, if a little expensive. There is plenty to see and do even in the winter here. May have a summer visit soon!"
"From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. We were greeted by the owners and found gifts of wine and chocolates waiting fo us. They were very helpful and informative. The flat was lovely, sparklingly clean and very well equipped. It was very convenient for shops, pubs and bus stops should you need them. It was central to all the places we wanted to visit, The Roman Army Museum, Vindolanda, the Roman Walls, Hexham, Brampton and other places to numerous to mention. A week was not enough!"
"Apart from some confusion finding the place, because the building is not called The Drover's Rest, I had a very enjoyable holiday. The flat was warm and very well fitted up, with a lovely window in the sitting room. The owners, Ian and Stella Hunter, were helpful and friendly. The train station is close, and the bus stop to take the ad122 over Hadrian's wall is five strides from the front door. The local Sainsbury's is just as close. A lovely place."
