Arbroath is a historic town, with an ancient fishing port that was one of the largest in Scotland by the 20th century. It is known for its long sandy beaches, as well as the traditional smokehouses where haddock is salted overnight, dried, and then smoked over a hardwood fire. There are lots of opportunities for walking and cycling along the coast, as well as golf courses.
Reviews
"What a wonderful place! We stayed At Munro Cottage for a few months. We found the house super clean and very comfortable. It has everything you need for a short or long staying. Rhona and the family received us with a warm welcome. There were always available if we need them. The area is very quiet, safe and it has so much to offer. Our kids learnt so much about sheep, potatoes and farming lifestyle. Rhona and the family took some time to show us around. The cottage is very close to the stunning Crombie Country Park, Monikie Country Park and Lunan Beach. It is, also, 10 minutes driving from Arbroath centre which has lots of shops and the famous smokies. Overall our experience has been exceptional; a mix of relaxing, enjoyment, admiring views. You know that you are having a break from the fast-paced lifestyle when you see: a wild rabbit eating grass on your backyard, a happy pheasant passing by your front door, ducks swimming at 10 mitres from the house, sheep baaing during our daily walk. We can't wait to read more happy stories from the future SmaHame Cottages guests :-) M&L"
