It is the home town of Dr William Penny Brookes, the inspiration for the modern Olympic Movement and founder of the Wenlock Olympian Society. Today the town is lined with quaint streets, housing a choice of specialty shops, quality pubs and restaurants, as well as the magnificent 12th century priory and the 16th century Guildhall.
