The village of Malham is an ideal base for visitors to the Dales who come to see one of Britain's most impressive natural features - Malham Cove. The Cove consists of a natural cavern or 'amphitheatre' of limestone rock stretching 75 metres in height and 300 metres around the perimeter. A steep walk up man-made steps is rewarded with a superb view across moors and limestone pavements to Malham Tarn - the Pennines' highest natural lake. The village itself has pubs and tearooms and a National Park Centre.

"Having had to cancel last years holiday at short notice, sadly losing our deposit, I was still keen to rebook Tennant Cottage for our annual break in 2015 as it seemed to tick all our boxes. We weren't disappointed! Both my husband and I agree that this is the best cottage that we have stayed in so far, and there have been many! Comfortable, homely, a super kitchen with everything you could possibly need, there was nothing that didn't exceed expectations. Just perfection, thank you!"

"My Brother and I stayed in this cottage in October 2014 and were blessed with really nice weather. The cottage was a real home from home for the week with everything thought of that could possibly be wanted. A good well equipped kitchen can be found upon entering and the Milk in the fridge was a nice touch. We ate out most of the time as there's two great Pubs literally on the doorstep, great food especially at The Buck Inn right opposite with Thwaites, Theakstons and Timmy Taylors, why bother turning the Oven on!! However should we have wanted to the facilities in the kitchen were second to none. The Lounge was very comfortable with TV, DVD, Games and Reading Matter all provided should you require them. Upstairs the two Bedrooms were excellent. The Master Bedroom, complete with King Size bed couldn't be better and the smaller Bedroom with two Singles was just as cozy. The Bathroom was very nice. Clean and well equipped with both a Bath and a Shower which was lovely and warm, sometimes lacking in that department in some cottages I've stayed in. A reasonably large Garden at the rear of the property and a Table and Chairs at the front completed the whole thing. Some people complained in the Visitors Book about the lack of Wi-Fi, but who wants the internet when on Holiday? BT customers could take advantage of an 'Openzone' well within receiving distance anyway. We couldn't have wished for a better cottage and the surroundings just added to the great week we had. All in all, fantastic."

"we booked this cottage for 1 week in July to explore the Yorkshire dales both walking and driving and see Le Tour. It was cosy and very well appointed with a well equipped kitchen and lovely lounge room. We only needed to walk out the door to access some wonderful walks e.g. Malham Cove and Tarn. The National Park information centre was only 5 minutes walk away. There was a kettle BBQ which we used several times but needed to provide the charcoal. It was an easy drive to Skipton and many picturesque villages. The owners lived in a nearby village and had provided us with information about the area which was very helpful. There were two good pubs a few minutes walk from the cottage both of which served good meals and beer. We had another couple join us halfway through our stay and there was plenty of room with a second bedroom with two single beds. We would certainly stay at this footage again when in the dales. "

"Tennant cottage is spacious yet cosy, rough-hewn yet glamorous. The location is perfect: in the centre of the village but peaceful. So many walks start from the front door: Malham Cove, Janet's Foss, Gordale Scar... Super comfortable beds and sofas, and excellent TV. The four main rooms are beautifully styled, yet retain the cottage character. I'm sure my bedroom wall was at least one foot thick. The kitchen is well-equipped, though the cooker is slow, and the washer-dryer was particularly useful on our muddy, moist week. Probably our favourite cottage ever. Note that the garden has no front gate so cheeky dogs could easily escape. "

"just returned after spending 1 week at this cottage. this cottage is just what it says it is great in every way. the furnishings are excellent as are the facilities. a great kitchen diner for you all to sit round. the master bed is enormous and without doubt the most comfortable I have ever slept in. the cottage is in a perfect setting you will enjoy sitting at the front of the cottage after a long walk with a cool glass in your hand watching the world go by. in the village there are 2 pubs, we did not eat in either as they were very expensive and the portions looked small. of the 2 the lister arms was much cheaper than the buck inn. there are numerous great walks from the village. i would recommend this cottage to any one."

"A really delightful stay in Malham. The cottage is spacious, tastefully decorated and contained everything we needed. I always bring backups of various things, but didn't need any of them! The cottage is right in the centre of Malham, but also feels out of the way and quiet. The surrounding area is just beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. We holidayed with our 15 month old and he did just fine - there wasn't too much we had to move out of his reach and there was plenty of space for him to run around in. The only thing I would suggest, if your little one isn't safe on stairs, is that you bring something to use as a stair gate. Oh yes, the only downside is that with mobile signal being non-existent, the provision of wi-fi would have been really useful - unless of course you truly want to get away from it all!"

"The property is perfectly placed especially if you are walkers like we are. The pubs are ok, however if you are vegitarian or gluten and wheat free would suggest trying further a field. The cottage is fully adequate with everything you could possibly need. The master bed is to die for although for those taller people remember to duck as you go through the door!!! Everything said would definitely go back to this cottage."

"My husband and I and our Siberian Cat Sasha, enjoyed our week's stay in Tennant Cottage. This was a part of the Yorkshire Dales we hadnt visited before but it was a pretty hair raising experience driving to and from Malham on the very narrow and winding lanes. We were a bit disappointed as we had booked Sunday lunch at the Buck Inn opposite but on arriving at the Pub the not too friendly barman said there was no note of our booking and would have been nice if he had at least apologised. It was not the owner of the Pub who on another night we again visited and he was very friendly. Wished we had known about no reception for mobiles in the area as you had to drive we were advised a mile or so out of the village which if there had been an emergency would have been pretty frightening. We really liked the little cafe in the village serving good quality breakfasts and other food all day. For us the location was a little distant as we were not "walkers" to other amenities but it didnt detract from the area which is beautiful. However Tennant Cottage was the cleanest cottage we have ever rented and very well presented and furnished."
