The charming and tiny village of Levisham lies six miles to the north of Pickering and consists of delightful stone cottages, farms and a village green. There is a church and pub in the village, whilst there are shops 6 miles away in Pickering. The Hole of Horcum is a section of the valley of the Levisham Beck, which flows along a steep, wooded valley and culminates in a small waterfall and water mill at its foot. There is a labyrinth of footpaths and trails through some breathtaking scenery and the station at Levisham is a stopping point for the North York Steam Railway. The area is perfectly placed for exploring all the historic houses, castles, towns and villages in this stunning and diverse region.
Reviews
"Lovely cottage in a perfect location Heather the owner was very welcoming and the complimentary cakes were a nice touch.the cottage it self was very clean warm and well stocked with every thing you would need for a pleasant stay. The Horseshoe pub up the road does fantastic food I advise to book a table it gets very busy. Would my wife and I come again yes for sure .if their is a p.s.the Loo seat in the cottage is a bit wobbly. But overall 10/10 . "
"Situated in a quiet country village with an friendly pub (The Horseshoe) serving excellent meals (note at this time of year the pub seems to be closed on Monday and Tuesdays). We had a warm welcome from the cottage owners, with a tray of home made cakes and tea/coffee. Stable cottage is cosy and warm although a larger sofa would be more comfortable. There was everything for a self catering holiday in the cottage and there is a large upright freezer in the shed next door, so if you want to take frozen food from home it is ideal. A walk down to the railway station provided lovely views but beware it is very steep coming back. If you are not a vegetarian, try to find Glaves butchers in Brompton by Sawden - excellent fresh meat and pies. We did most of our grocery shopping at Lidl in Pickering but there are also local markets worh a visit (we visited Northalerton on the way to Levisham and picked up fresh fruit/veg and bread from there.Hope everyone enjoys the area as much as we did."
"Very small cottage in a nice location. It includes everything you need to enjoy your holiday. Bath was a bonus after those long walks. The cottage is not owned by Skye cottages but lilac cottages, Levisham, just google and you can see all 4 cottages which are available. Sorry I don't have time today to write a longer review, message me if you have any questions. Enjoy your stay"
