Open plan living area with compact fitted kitchen, dining area & sitting area with woodburning stove in large inglenook fireplace. Covered veranda.
The Log Cabin is situated in the grounds of the owner's trout farm. As its name suggests, it is a log cabin, made from pine and it offers accommodation for up to 4 people. The bedrooms and living accommodation are all spread out across one level and the living area has been designed in an open-plan style, comprising a kitchen, dining area and living area that has its own inglenook fireplace, so that you can enjoy the benefits of this region, even in the colder months. Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

The Hills are a nationally important landscape and were designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in recognition of the special qualities of its natural and built environment. Being relatively unspoilt, the Hills offer a rare sense of timelessness. A network of hedges, mature hedgerow trees and small copses link a rich mosaic of semi-natural habitats. The area is perfect for walks, cycling and horse riding where the quiet bridleways and byways offer many opportunities to explore and enjoy the locally distinctive buildings, archaeological remains and natural flora and fauna. Sheldon is centrally located to explore attractions further away, such as the City of Exeter with its ancient Cathedral, High Street shopping and arts centres. Historic Honiton is also nearby, giving you a chance to find out more about the honey exports that gave the town its name and, a few miles south, you'll find the unspoilt beaches of Exmouth and the rest of the Jurassic Coast.
Reviews
"This truly is a cabin made from logs! The dogs loved the freedom of the forest and we loved the freedom from wi-fi and mobile phones. It's an idyllic setting and how lovely to wake up to see a buzzard perched close by, squirrels scurrying past and to be lulled to sleep by the hooting of owls. The wood burner in the vast inglenook fireplace dooms warms the cabin up. A good selection of maps and guides helped us plan our days. And we did park right by the cabin without any mishaps. A very relaxing birthday break. Hazel P."
"On arrival it was pouring with rain and we were told by owner we couldn't park next to lodge because of weather, we were eventually told no one is ever whatever the weather allowed to park by it as all men drivers are irresponsible and would drive on grass and land their car in the ditch. This ruined our holiday as we had to walk up a lane with all our belongings when we unpacked car. Every time we went out we got wet, dirty and cold. The lodge is lovely, but the inside needs a complete make over. The sofas are very flat and uncomfortable and also smelled of body odour and the single beds were very old and you could feel every coil spring. The electric would cut out if you turned the back right ring on, and unfortunately it could do with a good clean. I'm sure it was amazing when it was first built and decorated, but not now"
"We have just arrived back home after a week away in this beautiful log cabin in Sheldon. The owners were so accommodating. Our dog could run around in a safe environment and he very much enjoyed it. The owners gave us a starter pack for the log burner which was fantastic. The photo's on the website do not do this log cabin any justice. The living area was lovely and cosy and the kitchen adequate for the four of us that stayed. The shower was heaven and very clean, as was the whole cabin. We didn't use the fishing facilities but this didn't matter as the facilities were there if we wanted to use them. We were lucky enough to have snow whilst we were there and it looked so beautiful. Will definitely book again and look forward to returning soon."
"Log Cabin in need of an overhaul, cramped kitchen for cooking, and poor white goods. View only from door or veranda and not inspiring. Sofa and beds uncomfortable poor illumination throughout. Not impressed. Single steep winding track down to trout farm uninviting. Only plus point good base for exploring area. Will not be returning."
"we had a great time me my wife and the dog nice and quiet peaceful great base to tour from the farmer was great"
"The heat wave for the entire time at Sheldon obviously helped but this ranks as my favourite rental. Mega chill out - watching the local chickens amble about and the trout leaping in the nearby fish ponds. A few fishermen in the distance and that's it - you couldn't ask for a more relaxing location. The cabin itself is comfy and well equipped with all the basics you need and it doesn't look like a Country Living magazine copy (which is a real bonus for me!!). Really comfortable bed and a Devon cream tea waiting for you when you arrive! Nearby Honiton is lovely with a good range of local shops and markets and the a30 gives easy access to the rest of Devon and Dorset. All in all a fab place - we loved it and will definitely be going back"
"This was such a comfortable cabin, and friendly owners, with such beautiful surroundings for walking as well as just sitting watching the fishermen and listening to the birds. Spotted so many wild flowers I hadn't seen for ages, glad I took my reference book. We've recommended it to friends one couple have already booked it. Great for the 'Stop the world I need to get off'"
"What a lovely little place, beautiful grounds, great for pets, log burner perfect in the autumn & winter. It's a great area as well for walks and wildlife. We will definitely come back, the owners were so helpful when we had a flat tyre, even though their grounds had flooded with the recent November rain."
"Very friendly owners who could not do enough to ensure our stay was good. Wonderful views from all the windows of the lodge. Very peaceful and relaxing. Loved every minute we were there. Kitchen had everything we needed. Lodge was cosy and warm when cold outside. Location was good for all nearby towns and villages and exploring. Will go back soon. Thankyou."
"Fantastic location literally in the middle of nowhere but close to loads of different places. The lodge was great, and the view from the veranda is stunning and the visting peacock kept the dog amused! Kids and dog loved it. Couldn't fault it. The people are really lovely and very helpful, and the freshly laid eggs were very tasty. Would highly recommend."
"If you want somewhere quiet and peaceful this is the place for you."
"This was our first time in log cabin.Very seculded spot, dog loved his freedom to roam on the long grass area, outside the cabin. Wonderful views from log cabin of fishing pools, and mountains. In a valley surrounded by woods. Lots of walking areas nearby and interesting old villages e.g Broadbenbury only short distance in vehicle with its thatched roof cottages very picturesque. Honiton is a lovley one street town with market stalls on the road side twice weekly. Cabin was spacious and comfortable with an outside porch area which we had our barbecues on."
"We had an excellent stay at the log cabin. The owners were very welcoming on arrival and were very helpful."
"The service we received was very good, the cabin was lovely but.....the furniture left a lot to be desired, very cheap, very low and very uncomfortable. we could not relax very well in the evenings. Otherwise it was great, a beautiful location Liked best...Devon. Liked least....that bloomin settee. Liam Bennett"
