Reviews
"This was a perfect place for our short break. The cottage was spotlessly clean and wanted for nothing. The wood burning stove was an added bonus which created cosy nights after our days in the wintry weather. There was plenty of room for the two of us and our dog. A lovely peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle of Scarborough but within easy reach of both Scarborough and Whitby. It could not have been better - we will definitely be back."
"Surprisingly spacious, immaculate, cosy and comfortable little place with everything we needed in a well kept private grounds. We found this the perfect spot to unwind as did our three year old Retreiver."
"The cottage lived up to the description and reviews and the scenery, local walks etc. are superb. The only reason I didn't give it 5/5 is because I managed to scrape the skin off my head (no hair for protection) on the low beams upstairs 3 times, the water taps in the kitchen sink turn the wrong way ending up in me getting rather wet a number of times and the pillows were rather firm. Despite this I would definitely return"
"Myself, wife and two children have just returned home from staying here for a week. As the title suggests this was a great place to stay. The peaceful location is fantastic and you have all the facilities you need. The house was spotless when we arrived with nice touches such as soap, milk and towels, which you don't always get. The cottage is compact but was big enough for us. The two single rooms are advertised as children's rooms and they were exactly that. The beams give the cottage character but if you are 6ft tall watch your head in places. I liked the WiFi and the digi tv and my daughter liked the ponies in the fields just outside. There are sheep and cattle nearby as well. There are a few pubs nearby and plenty of walks, however we spent most of our time touring about in the car. All in all it is an idyllic place to stay, just watch your head in places"
"I am torn about making this entry because I would rather keep this place secret! Weekend visit before Christmas. family two kids and dog. Log burner roaring away it couldn't get much better. This is our second visit this year having spent a week here in the summer. The cottage itself is fantastic. Spotless upon arrival with everything you need no matter how long your stay is for. Dont be fooled that its a cottage it is surprisingly roomy.Graham and Pippa are fantastic hosts, There if needed but not hovering in the background. Its a fantastic location for any of the main east coast resorts or simply some walking on the beaches depending on the time of year.. I would have no problem whatsoever in wholeheartedly recommending Honey Bee Cottage (Unfortunately!)"
"Summer Bee cottage has everything you would want situated in a quiet secluded valley not far from Robin Hoods Bay and is dog friendly. It has 2 bedrooms, central heating. The kitchen is well appointed with washer/drier, dish washer etc and even has a log burner in the living area. The owners are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. When you arrive there is a small tray of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits to welcome you. there is 1 double bed room with a comfy bed but you do have to mind your head as i found to my cost as the beams are very low. the second bedroom is 2 single beds. we have stayed regularly over the past few years and it has always been excellent. Thanks"
"A very well appointed, cosy cottage in a lovely part of the countryside. We had everything we needed, apart from sunshine! A thoughtful touch was the welcome tray with local cookies, much appreciated. Very handy location for trips out into the stunning countryside and not too far to the shops. The owners were very friendly and helpful and their lovely dog,Ginny provided daily entertainment for our Staffy,Harry. His first holiday romance!! We will definitely return. Loved the Guinea fowl, sheep and Highland cattle too."
"We had a 6 night stay in October and found the cottage to be clean and cosy. It was very extensively equipped with everything you could need - a real home from home. The views were beautiful, we loved the low window in the main bedroom where you could lie in bed and view the countryside. The other bedrooms very small but adequate, even for an adult we thought. Some low beams though so watch your head if you are tall - I was OK at 5 foot 2! We didnt try the log burner as the weather was beautiful! The owners are very approachable and offered good advice on local pubs and walks etc. Loved the guinae fowl peeping in through the bathroom window! Would recommend this cottage to anyone."
"Honey Bee cottage is a superbly situated cottage, well equipped and beautifully decorated. The location while peaceful is still within easy reach of Robin Hood's Bay, Scarborough and Whitby. Plenty of areas for walks and children to play. The cottage itself was very cosy with lovely comfy beds and the luxury of a choice of a bath or a shower at the end of a busy day. Pippa and Graham who own the cottage were very friendly and helpful and both the children loved Ginny (the dog)."
"We stayed for one week in July , the cottage was of a great standard cosy and charming and passed our expectations . In a great setting and ideal for exploring the surrounding countryside , the owners graham and pippa were extremely helpful . We had two eleven year olds with us and there was plenty room outside to play and visit the ponies on the farm . We would definitely go back again ."
"Stayed in this cottage in February. Was a lovely, cosy cottage in beautiful surroundings. Ill definitely be coming back and staying here again and would recommend it to anyone."
"Stayed in Honey Bee in early 2013. The property is lovely, spotlessly clean and well presented. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners - even digging our car out of the snow! Would go again without question."
"I have just stayed at this beautiful and delightful cottage with my wife, daughter and dog for 3 nights. We were made very welcome by the owners who were also very helpful and forthcoming concerning what to do and places to eat and visit. The cottage is a stunnung little farmhouse style cottage. The amenities in the cottage are excellent and the tray with biscuits on arrival is a very nice touch. The location is perfect, tremendous views, peace and quiet and is not far from many wonderful walks. Ideally situated for visiting Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, Goathland and various other places. Will definitely be going back, 10/10"
"The location was perfect, tremendous views, peace and quiet and not far from many places of outstanding beauty and national interest. The accommadation was very compact, the main bedroom was fine but the two singles were quite claustrophobic which was such a pity. It was difficult to even get dressed in them! and no storage. The owners were lovely, and very helpful, always around in case we needed anything. Ideal for a couple with two small children! Also great that they accepted pets."
"This the third time that we have booked our holiday with Sykes and we can't speak highly enough of the company as a whole, from the customer services staff when you book your holiday, all the way throught to the owners of the cottages themselves. They are always friendly and willing to go the extra mile to make sure that you have a fantastic holiday. Honey Bee cottage is a little treasure, set next to the owners home and in acres of farm land, it was beautifully decorated and scrupiously clean, the decor was well thought out and in keeping with the age of the cottage. The owners were very friendly and offered up suggestions of where the best pubs and eating places were. The location of the cottage meant that we were between Scarbough and Whitby, so we were ideally placed to visit their beachs or drive over to the moors too Goathland and the Hole of Horcum. The best part of the holidays was waking up to the sound of cows mooing in the field behind the cottage, the breathtaking sunsets and sunrises and finding the owners dog Ginny outside the front door waiting for her home cooked breakfast sausage every morning and not forgetting the Highland cattle and the owners ponies that would gallop up the field to greet us whenever we left or came back to the cottage."
"We loved the cottage. It was very clean and decorated to a very high standard. The cottage had everything you would need for a short stay, there was even a welcome basket with tea and biscuits and a fresh pint of milk in the fridge. My husband and I took advantage of the amazing scenery and walks in the area while the others went to visit nearby whitby and scarborough. Recommended for a relaxing break."
"Our second visit to this remote and wonderful retreat. Snow ensured we had to walk the final quarter of a mile to the property. The owners who live adjacent were wonderful, helping with our every need. The cottage was warm and cosy, we had the log burner going very well. We enjoyed the snow, skiing and sledging. We will be back."
"A excellent cottage in a superb location. The owners were very helpfull nothing was to much trouble. Our dog was also made very welcome. If you like walking this location is also excellent, many walks within 2 miles which are also dog friendly. If you pick this cottage you will return as many have done"
"Suberb little farmhouse style cottage. Pub within walking distance and lots of walks available to entertain the dog. Suberb!"
"The cottage was in a lovely setting, with beautiful views. The village it was located in was charming. We were met by the owners when we arrived, and they were very friendly. The cottage was charming but rather small. It did have three bedrooms but the two single rooms were tiny. The living space also was rather small for four people. The garden area attached to the cottage was very nice. The amenities in the cottage were good, but there was no drying space for clothing."
