Situated in the south of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a wonderful example of an English market town. With a traditional market square, eclectic street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses, the heyday of this settlement came in the 18th Century when the town was a fashionable social centre. Many fine Georgian buildings remain from this era, adding an air of elegance to the town's heart. With numerous restaurants and inns, Ashbourne is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters. For those who prefer outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by, offering wonderful walking opportunities. Alton Towers Theme Park is just 20 minutes drive away and makes a fun day out for all the family.
Reviews
"Having just arrived home today after an amazing 4 night stay at the pudding room, I just had to put up a review. Our accommodation was fabulous, clean spacious and well stocked with everything we needed. We stayed here with 2 teenagers and all had a brilliant break!! The location was excellent with Carsington Water just a short walk over the road with all the water sports to enjoy as well as bike hire around the lake which was fabulous!! We also visited Dovedale, went quad biking and crossbow just a few mikes away We had an amazing fun packed 5 day break with fabulous accommodation to come home to each night. Would definitely return."
"I called into the pudding room whilst out walking, this is a hidden gem!!! I had a coffee and a slice of cake, which was fresh and the cake was home made and so delicious! I also had a sandwich made to take away, that was lovely. Dogs are welcome and a big fuss was made of her. Would definitely go back!"
"2.5 years on we were back to visit the Pudding Room over Mother's Day weekend. It was once again a great place to stay. Visited Carsington Water and Gulliver's Kingdom as well as Ashbourne. The apartment was super clean and perfect for us and our now 3 year old daughter. The bed was very comfortable! Thank you once again! PS - What type of laundry detergent do you use as the bed linen smelt amazing!!"
"Stayed here for 3 very comfortable nights. Spacious rooms with very tall ceilings. All home comforts with simple clean comfy furnishings. Great host, friendly and willing to accommodate any requests. Ordered some puddings and quiche previous to visit. They were all delicious. Easy to walk to Carsington Water, which we did twice , morning and one evening. Good decor with everything looking in very good condition. Great shower. Easy to drive to Matlock, Belper and Cromford."
"We stayed here for week in September and it was lovely. It was just perfect for me and my husband and our 1 year old. Really close to Carsington waters and Bakewell and Ashbourne not far at all. The owner was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Can highly recommend the puddings too! We will certainly be returning. Thank you for a lovely week."
"arrived on Friday afternoon the place was very clean and tidy an a nice cake was waiting to be consumed with a bottle of wine. The double bed was very comfortable and we both had a good night sleep only a short walk to Carsington water plenty to do around about."
