Reviews
"Had a great week just me and my four-legged friend in this cozy cottage. Full of quirky character with wood burner and all you need for a home from home stay. Very comfy beds! A Perfect base for my visit to Yorkshire. Wonderful walks with pubs on route for that halfway stop for lunch & liquid refreshment.. Although on the high street, the cottage is relatively quiet. Thanks for the Christmas tree. "
"Stayed here in February 2017. Firstly cottage pictures could do with updating. In lounge now is large flat screen tv above fireplace and one big leather corner sofa. The second set of beds is located on a side landing up the stairs with only a curtain for privacy so it's not an actual room, but description only leads you to believe it sleeps only 2 people anyway. Only access is through the big gates to left of property, front door on street is blocked in from inside. Through those gates you can park and gain access to cottage through kitchen. The location of this cottage is brilliant. Set in a lovely little village it has everything you could possibly need locally, everything. The location is also a brilliant gateway to the Moors, Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay to name a few. The cottage itself could do with some small jobs done. Wood burner needs attention as leaking smoke, nothing a small service wouldn't sort but overall it's a lovely little cozy cottage. Quirky, very quirky indeed. Great central heating so it definatly isn't feeling cold like some cottages. Great large bathroom with over bath shower and a small room off this with a sofa in. I would stay back here, no question. Owner was very helpful and very polite who took time out to explain cottages history, it's a lot older than you think it is!. It is located on a road which is fairly busy but inside cottage you hear hardly anything at all as it's a very quiet village. Great local pubs and although there is a Chinese takeaway on one side, and an Indian the other (Both were fantastic btw!) there is no noise and no cooking smells, even when stood outside. As I said, would happily stay here again."
"We have just returned from a weeks stay at Cooper's cottage with our one year old daughter. The cottage was clean, full of charm and character and ideally located in the heart of Pickering. It was equipped with everything we could possibly have needed (inlcuding a high chair and travel cot) and had an extensive range of tour guide leaflets giving us lots of inspiration for local day trips. The owner was very friendly and quick to respond to emails. We would definitely recommend this cottage for a couple or small family wanting a restful break in the heart of Yorkshire."
"Lovely cottage a minutes walk from the centre of Pickering. Very clean with a nice refurnished bathroom and excellent shower. Cosy lounge with an adequate kitchen. Good for couples. Stairs to the bathroom a bit awkward if you are not fully mobile. Nice touches such as welcome tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. Noyon Indian restaurant next door very good as was Lees Chineses takeaway the other side but no problem with food smells. Off street parking behind gates, only suitable for smaller cars but we had no problem parking in the street. It's a fairly main road but quietens down at night and did not disturb our sleep. All in all an excellent base for the North York Moors, Castle Howard, and the Whitby coastline."
"having recently stayed at coopers cottage with my partner and dog i want to say what a lovely cottage this is. The kitchen had all the amenities you need and the bed was lovely and comfy. There was tea coffee and milk awaiting on our arrival and i have to say that the pictures don't do the cottage justice as it looks like it has all been updated since they were taken. We had a lovely week in Pickering and exploring North Yorkshire and this was the ideal pace to stay. Parking was never a problem despite having a 4x4 and if you have a slightly smaller vehicle then there is parking at the rear of the property. Lovely place thanks Matt."
"A warm welcome when we arrived at the cottage. The owner was there to welcome us. Kitchen large for cooking local produce.Stairs not to good into bathroom, but loved the shower over bath. Even "jed" the dog had out side space."
"We stayed in Coopers Cottage over the Christmas week with our 12 week old baby. It is very cosy with so much unexpected space in the kitchen and upstairs! The bathroom is fab with a seperate space to get dressed in and there are two double beds, one in a cosy bedroom and the other on a lovely mezzanine floor. This was great as we had so much stuff with us for the baby that we could spread out very effectively. Parking is easy, Pickering high street is a two minute walk, the cottage is next to a good indian but it is also detatched from it so no smells or noise but the bonus of having good food very close! Overall we could not recommend the cottage enough, very friendly and accommodating owners, great break."
"A lovely cottage but found the stairs very dangerous to both adults and kids due to being very steep with no banister! my husband and I decided to let the kids have the double room as the other room had no door and opened onto steep stairs maybe an idea to change beds round and put singles in the main room? The kitchen could do with more equiptment as 4 of us struggled and were always washing up as needed plates etc for next meal location was fab couldn't be faulted parking good as managed to park at front of property as space provided was taken by next door"
"Well organised and really nicely, simply furnished and although on a main road and near shops it is very quiet, especially at night. Quite steep stairs to bedrooms and bathroom, so if you struggle with stairs this may not be right for you but this is not a criticism merely an observation. I would happily stay here again (especially as they allow dogs!)"
"What a lovely, cosy cottage. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left we had the most relaxing time. The cottage is beautifully furnished, comfortable and cosy. The kitchen is really well appointed and the log burning stove adds a lovely, country feel. For us the best thing was that our puppy Bailey loved it! The courtyard is totally secure so he was able to have a run around without us worrying. On our arrival we were greeted by a lovely box of cakes, jar of coffee, fresh milk and a local paper which, after a long drive, were very very welcome. We enjoyed our stay so much that we are hoping to return later this year!"
"Arrived after following the excellent direction. Was met at the property and given the tour. Lovely quirky cottage but well decorated and equipped. Everything we required was there and the cottage was well heated and plenty of hot water etc. Very near the centre of Pickering which is a great place and very dog friendly. Good choice of pubs takeaways and shops and friendly good service."
"very nice cottage, good central location for exploring the moors and surounding area. there was a small problem with the rubbish bin being full to the brim, and no instruction when to leave out for collection. this small thing aside i would stay again and i have recomended it to anyone who will listen to me."
"On arrival we were very disappointed at how dirty the cottage was. Every surface was covered in thick dust, including the floor. In the lounge the sofa under the window had broken springs and the other sofa was covered in a grubby, stained cover. There were no towels, tea towels or oven gloves left. The bedlinen was worn and had to be changed. Many of the light bulbs had gone and no replacement bulbs left. After bitterly complaining to the owner a cleaner was sent, but even then the property was only just passable in terms of cleanliness as many areas were still left uncleaned such as the venetian blinds, windows and the cobwebs hanging from the bathroom ceiling."
