Reviews
"We stayed at the Milking Parlour on Middle Westhope Farm and lucked out to have the first Alpaca walk. Stunning countryside and wonderfully guided by the owners. The kids were in raptures. Very good value too!"
"Stayed for three nights and had a great time. We last stayed at the cottages 7 years ago and they had always stayed in our mind as a place to go back to, we were not disappointed. The cottage was really clean and cots, high chairs and stair gates were provided for our grandsons, there are also lots of baby/child friendly cutler, cups etc in the well equipped kitchen. The new addition of the games room and gym is great. Extremely dog friendly, there were towels, treats and a dog bowl left for the dog."
"I have just returned from a fabulous weekend at The Turnip House with four friends. The Cottage is beautiful, and is in a stunning location, pet friendly (we took two small dogs with us), and just great for a relaxing break. There are fantastic scenic walks around the location. The nearest pub is a short drive away, but to be honest, we took our own food and alcohol, so only ventured to the pub on one occasion. The Cottage is well equipped, and we took advantage of the hot tub more than once a day. There is also a BBQ which we used. Marianne the owner is very friendly, and meets you on arrival to check all is OK. There was a bottle of wine, a lovely lemon drizzle cake and chocolate as a welcome gift. Marianne had also left tea, coffee sugar, and a jug of milk for us in the fridge. The hot tub is also tested regularly. This was my second time at Westhope Country Retreats (I stayed at the larger Troopers Barn last year with my family). I am also going back to The Turnip House in November with my Husband for his birthday weekend. Definitely recommended."
"This is a beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings. Spotlessly clean with everything you need in a self catering cottage. Fantastic hot tub which is maintained everyday by the very friendly and helpful staff. This was a long weekend away for five of us, all girls (hot tub hotties!! Lol ) we had a great time, nice long walks and relaxing evenings in the hot tub. Will definitely be back next year. Nearest pub is about 3.5 miles away, few minutes in the car probably a good hour or so to walk. We took our own wines etc so happy days! Couldn't fault this place the owners should be proud of it."
"This is our favourite holiday cottage yet (we've done a few!). The decor was lovely (see photo's), great size kitchen / lounge, bedrooms were cozy and the beds super comfy. Hot tub was great and maintained every day. The kids loved the games room and went daily to play table tennis and pool. The welcome cake and wine was a lovely thought too. Great wi-fi, which only went down once as it was on a satellite system but rectified quickly. It has an upstairs bathroom and an en-suite bathroom with the downstairs bedroom, which was handy as there were 5 of us so no queuing for the loo! We had a game between us to see who could find something wrong... and all we came up with was no potato peeler... so as you can see this place just can't be faulted. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning."
"We arrived at this place, and were treated to a lovely surprise of a homemade cake, a jug of milk in the fridge, a bar of chocolate and a bottle of wine! The owner arrived shortly to greet us, and informed us what the area had to offer. Nothing was too much trouble. The location is tranquil and there are many 'conservation walks' to walk your dog. Although situated off an A road, the location is central to nearby activities and attractions, such as lovely walks in Carding Mill Valley, Long Mynd, the 'Hills & Dales' route to Craven Arms. Attractions within close proximity are Acton Scott, a working Victorian farm, and the charming town of Ludlow (9 miles away). There are other numerous attractions in the area. Supermarkets deliver to this property, although don't forget the high quality food provided at local towns such as Church Stretton. If you have kids, then they will love viewing the pigs, donkeys and cattle situated in adjacent fields. The games room was also entertaining on a rainy day. The only area for slight improvement is the gym. It currently houses a weight lifting machine, a rowing machine and a cross trainer. Unfortunately, when we visited, the cross trainer was out of action and in my opinion, the gym would benefit from a running machine/spin cycle and a fan to cool the room. All in all a very well appointed holiday cottage, and we had a wonderful time."
