Reviews
"Lovely dog friendly house in a great location for exploring Dumfries & Galloway area. The photos of the coach house do not do it justice, it is much bigger and brighter, especially downstairs where there are windows to the floor (which our dog loved) giving great views out over the large garden (which the dog also loved). The house is also warm, comfortable and well equipped. We were lucky to have bright sunny weather - never a given in Scotland in late October - so we made the most of our short break. Owner was on site to welcome us, and to walk us round the property, and a wee welcome pack was also provided, milk, bread, butter and biscuits."
"Just come back from marvellous new year celebration. The Coach house is spacious and tastefully decorated. Kitchen is large and well equipped. Bedrooms are comfortable; 3 bathrooms including disabled facilities. Front room is spacious but has a very cosy feel. Wifi is good and Moniaive is a friendly welcoming place; 2 good pubs, Italian restaurant and a large local shop. Owners of Hastings Hall are very friendly and helpful. All in all we had great stay and New Year."
"The Old Coach House has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. The owner was on hand to greet us upon our arrival, and just couldn't do enough for us throughout our stay. Full of local knowledge, he sent us on some amazing outings to stunning locations, and even advised us of the best local pubs and eateries if I didn't feel like cooking. The house itself was furnished with extremely comfortable and practical furnishings, and there was even a luxurious welcome hamper waiting for us in the spacious, well-equiped kitchen! The early-April weather wasn't kind to us, but the house was so warm and cosy that the weather really didn't matter. It was great to sit in the vast kitchen and watch the lambs skipping about on the hillside through the over-sized patio doors. The wet room was ideal for my disabled mother too. Due to recency of the refurbishment and the lousy weather the gardens surrounding the property hadn't had the chance to recover and blossom, so we were left a vase full of local daffs to gaze on instead. As for Moniaive - it's a charming village with very welcoming, friendly locals. It's the sort of place where you are wished 'good morning/afternoon' by complete strangers who will happily pass the time of day with you. The local shop is well-stocked and fairly priced, and the local ice cream is to die for! A trip up the road to the Galloway Forest is a must, as is the drive to Port Patrick. All in all, everyone of us (including our dog!) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Coach House, and will happily return again soon."
