Betws-Y-Coed has truly achieved its status as the ‘Gateway to Snowdonia'. Set in a stunning and temperate valley in the Snowdonia National Park, the village has served as an inspiration to artists and painters since Victorian times. Sitting on the banks of the River Conwy, Betws-Y-Coed is an ideal base for a variety of outdoor pursuits. Wildlife enthusiasts will delight in the hundreds of square miles of unspoilt scenery that houses an abundance of birds, animals and species of rare plant. Walkers, mountain-bikers and climbers can anticipate the challenges offered by Mount Snowdon and her smaller cousins. For the less adventurous, a railway has been constructed that will take you to the summit of Snowdon, allowing you to experience the breathtaking views without the breathtaking effort. The village is well facilitated, the inns and pubs serving good local food to weary travellers and it plays host to a number of festivals throughout the year such as the Snowdonia Mountain Run.
Reviews
"A small but well equipped cottage, part of a converted barn with two other rented properties. Lovely views from the door of Moel Shabod & Snowdon behind and great sunsets. An ideal base to explore the national park and of course great for keen walkers. Owners very welcoming and lovely welsh cakes and Easter biscuits on arrival."
"Outstanding experience ... this is my first cottage and I regretted it ... I love the place the surroundings ... easy to get to the attractions near to it ... very clean and humble ... the owners are nice and friendly ... I definitely going back again."
"The cottage was in a beautiful location, very peaceful but near to all amenities, a car is essential for visiting all the favourite places but we enjoyed a couple of walks direct from the cottage. The owners were helpful and provided plenty of tourist information. Although small, the cottage was certainly big enough for the two of us and our dog. It was very warm, clean and comfortable. The patio was the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sun go down over the mountains. We certainly enjoyed a very relaxing week."
"The cottage is in such a picturesque location that immediately you feel relaxed on arrival. Cottage is very well equiped and clean and just as described. Location is great for exploring the local area. Our dog loved the long walks everyday. We had a great weeks stay here and will definitely go back again."
