The Cairngorms National Park is not only the United Kingdom's biggest National Park it is undoubtedly one of our most spectacular. The quiet village of Laggan is right in the middle of the Cairngorms National Park and is flanked by both the Monadhliath and Grampian mountains so it's no surprise that there are plenty of opportunities to get close to nature in this stunning part of the country. Red deer, red squirrels, golden eagles and rare Osprey all call Laggan home. For those that like to get their adrenaline pumping there's the Laggan Wolftrax bike trails close by and for those that like to take it a bit easier there's walking, fishing, bird-watching, golf, horse and pony riding and cycling.

"After a weeks stay at the Drey i felt it was in need of some upgrading a good clean and some TLC. Not sure the notes displayed in the toilets/bedrooms were necessary."

"Just back from this beautiful cottage in an amazing location. The owners have put a lot of thought into supplying everything you need for your stay - the house was warm and cosy and clean, the kitchen well stocked with equipment and beds comfortable. I would love to stay there again."

"The Laggan Drey is an outstanding place to spend your vacation. The Drey itself is beautiful, has everything that you would need and is very cosy with the wood burning fire going (needed for a winter visit!). The area itself is majestic in its beauty - just follow the road in front of the Drey into the mountains and witness the herds of deer to see what I mean. I can not recommend staying here highly enough - we were fortunate to enjoy a little snow while we were there which made everything even more beautiful."

"We had our family holiday here and it was our first visit to Scotland. This wonderful property had won an award for its design and it is easy to see why. All the rooms make the most of the fantastic views over the valley and it was so peaceful to sit on the balcony in the evening (before the midges arrived) with a drink and to soak up the glorious views. The cattle were often grazing in the field below and the mountains looked magnificent whatever the weather. It is well located for local walks and there is a cycling track/hire of bikes nearby too. Or alternatively it's an hours drive to Inverness, Loch Ness, Aviemore or Ben Nevis so plenty to choose from. The amenities in the house were great and there is a little store (Laggan Stores- once featured in the Monarch of the Glen) a few hundred meters away which, despite it's size, seems to stock everything in the world. We loved this place and I'd happily return again - a real home from home."

"What a wonderful time we had at The Drey! The owners had everything ready for us when we arrived (well past dark), even tea and biscuits for the morning. We loved being able to wake at our leisure, look at the map, and take off in our car. The central location of The Drey allowed us to see quite a lot of Scotland in our week long stay. The house itself was perfect for our family of five: a girl's room, a boy's room, and a parent room. We enjoyed evening fires and family games from the "stash" provided in the house. The washer, drier, and dish washer were also a plus. Our last evening at The Drey found us out on the deck looking at the most beautiful and complete rainbow we'd ever seen. It was a lovely end to a lovely trip!"

"The cottage was set in an idyllic location, with local amenities a short walk away and an array of activities to experience within a short mileage. The cottage itself was perfect with a stunning view, particularly at dusk and dawn. Furthermore, the cottage was a lot bigger than expected. A fantastic holiday experience."

"Contact with Sykes Cottages staff was easy and friendly. On arrival at the cottage the owner met us and the welcome was great with home made shortbread waiting to be eaten with a lovely cup of tea. The home was really wonderful with everything that you needed - well above the average (and we should know)! We were not idsappointed with the location and the little shop at the bottom of the road was amazing - catering for about absolutely everything. Very friendly as well. We liked everything so what's not to like!"

"This was my first trip to Scotland, and I hope not my last. Laggan Drey was beautiful as well as spectacular scenery. I can't imagine anyone staying there and not liking it. It was also close to a lot of villages that we could visit in a day so that made it even better, and of course we had several requests from home to bring something back from the distilleries. Couldn't miss that while I was in Scotland, could I?"
