The town of Kingussie is situated in the stunning Cairngorm National Park and attracts visitors all year round. The town has a fine variety of hotels and restaurants, and is home to a very fine folk museum, with buildings and artefacts all of which combine to give an insight into Highland life. During the summer months, traditional crafts are demonstrated in the 'village' streets. For the nature lovers there is the Highland Wildlife Park and its wolf territory along with the habitat walks and other Highland wildlife. There are whisky distilleries to visit, one of them, Dalwhinnie, is the highest distillery in Scotland. Aveimore is just 15 miles away and a popular winter destination, but it does have more to offer all year round and is worth a visit at any time of year.
Reviews
"Lovely house, very confortable, everything you could need for a holiday. Very close to the shops & local amenities. Great base for travelling around. The only problem was the rear garden, although it did state it was a steep rear garden I don't think it makes it clear enough it is EXTREMELY steep & unsuitable for anyone unfit, disabled or your children so there is really no outside sitting area."
"We really enjoyed staying in this well equipped townhouse in the Cairngorms. We were in want of nothing. The service provide by the proprietors was friendly and efficient. We were disapointed by the Service provided by Sykes. We did not receive the "check in" information until after we returned from our trip!!! Also--Sykes did not forward the information regarding our arrival time to the proprietors. This caused a great deal of confusion upon our arrival to Kingussie. Fortunately the owners had set up a "fall back plan". Our vacation potentially could have suffered greatly due to Sykes oversights and mistakes. We loved the area for hiking, the village was friendly and we enjoyed our time very much."
"good clean and tidy cotttage.good base to return to after visiting other places.Kincraig wildlife park & the outdoor folk museum at Newtonmore well worth visiting."
"The house was easy to find and everything was ready for us. The service was held in silence and did not disturb us at any time, really gentle ! The home -as described- was wonderful. Kingussie is a friendly town, makes you feel at home although it is obvious that you are a tourist. I felt more in the "real"Scotland than in Aviemore. I loved the surroundings of the town, the Cairngorms and the people in Kingussie. The only trouble for me was the garbage bins - I was a little confused in the beginning how to select correct. I hope, this caused not a problem to the owner, but I am not used to the Scottish system. I am still a German..."
