This pet friendly, barn conversion cottage on a working farm sleeps 4 people in the Shropshire village of Acton Burnell just 7 miles from the historic market town of Shrewsbury and is just a short drive from Bridgnorth and Ironbridge. All ground floor. Two bedrooms: 1 x king-size double, 1 x twin. Bathroom with bath, separate shower, basin and WC. Utility/cloakroom with belfast sink and WC. Well-equipped, modern fitted kitchen with dining area and french windows to rear patio. Comfortable sitting room with woodburner and french doors to front patio.
Virginia Cottage was originally a barn set on a working farm. It has been converted to provide accommodation for groups of up to 4 people. The conversion has been undertaken with great care and the cottage retains much of its original character through features such as a wood-burning stove in the lounge. The decoration is modern, yet comforting and the property backs onto a private patio from where you can absorb the rolling scenery or enjoy a spot of summertime dining. Walks are available through the farm and the cottage is located close to other walking trails. There is parking for up to 2 cars, although the local shops are 2 minutes away on foot and the local pub is 4 miles away. A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

The pretty little village of Acton Burnell is set in rolling farmland a few miles from Shrewsbury and takes its name from Robert Burnell, famous for building the lovely castle and church here in the 13th Century. Robert Burnell, who built the castle, also built Acton's Church of St Mary, which is still in use and remains one of the most complete 13th century village churches in Britain. Acton is well-placed to explore further Shropshire attractions, such as Much Wenlock, Church Stretton, Attingham Park and Shropshire's capital: Shrewsbury. There are plenty of walking and cycling opportunities, especially amongst the historic Shropshire Hills.
Reviews
"The cottage provided a good base for touring Shrophshire with good walks out of the front door for the dog. The whole atmosphere was relaxing and peaceful. The local shop/ P.O. stocked the daily papers and other essential but often forgotten items. Hope to return again soon."
"We had an awesome weeks rest in Virginia Cottage, the owners where fantastic people, I only wish we could have stayed longer. The cottage was beautifully appointed with everything you could want for a perfect break. I come from a farming background so the peace and quite of this farm forming a part of the village reminded me of my childhood from Cross Farm in Eastry, Kent. I would wholeheartedly recommend this cottage to anyone with or without animals."
"This is a beautiful cottage, lovely decor and facilities. Lovely to have a choice of outdoor eating areas, too. All on one level so perfect for families. The owners were friendly and helpful. We recommend visiting acton Burnell castle, just a few minutes walk from the cottage. A perfect spot for a picnic or walk. We loved the cottage and the area - a lovely holiday,"
"The location of the cottsge is ideal for exploring Shropshire and Wales. There are many places of interest to visit within easy reach. The cottage was ideal for families as the garden and patio area were safe and secure. The cottage was well equiped and had everything needed for a comfortable stay."
""The cottage was beautiful and lovely and clean and very comfortable. Had all the things you require a home to have from essential cooking utensils to home comforts. The owners Penny and her Husband and their family were most hospitable." Would highly recommend a visit here. Some lovely pubs to visit in surrounding areas too. We hope to return one day very soon!."
"The service we received was excellent. The Holiday Accomodation was perfect. There was everything you could want and more besides! We were all impressed with the wonderful layout and comfort of the home. The location was quiet and peaceful. My only complaint(besides the weather) was there were no close amenities, you had to drive everywhere."
