Stamford Bridge was a fording point over the River Derwent for a Roman settlement, but nowadays is a town with a selection of shops and restaurants. The village is the site of the Battle of Stamford Bridge on 25 September 1066, which marked the end of the Viking era in Britain.
Reviews
"The cottage is gorgeous, private and quite luxurious. A very good kitchen, really comfy bed and the hot tub is an absolute blessing. Local restaurants are excellent too, and a short drive to York means there is always lots to do. Bridlington beach is not too far away either. A perfect getaway."
"We stayed here for three nights during a get away in Yorkshire. It's ideally situated as the sea side is not too long a drive away, and the gorgeous city of York is even closer. The cottage itself has been very very nicely converted, and decorated so tastefully. The bed linen is the softest I've felt and there was even a loaf of bread, jar of honey and butter & milk so we could have hot drinks and a bit of breakfast without even having to stop at the shop en route. We arrived at 8pm ish and we're greeted and welcomed in by very friendly people. We felt comfortable for our entire stay and despite being on a working farm we were in no way disturbed. The hot tub and bed side bath were fantastic features. Hot tubs in the cold weather are perfect. We would recommend a stay here to anyone and hope to return in the not too distant future. "
"We've just returned from a wonderful weeks stay at the partridge cottage. It was our first holiday as a family with our 6 month old and it seems we'd found the perfect place. The cottage is beautiful, immaculately clean with high spec fittings, with the hot tub and bath there's the added feeling of being very spoiled. As well as the bath there is also a gorgeous shower room on the ground floor. What made the stay perfect was the thoughtfulness of everything provided, there was everything we could need and more not just for us but our baby too! They provided a travel cot, high chair, changing mat and extra towels. The welcome pack was a special touch. We felt very much at home and had a great time exploring York and the local area, there is so much to see and do. The cottage is easy to find as its on the main road, there was a little traffic noise but this didn't disturb us. The owners were very friendly and helpful and we would love to return."
"We have just returned from a short break at Partridge cottage which is of the highest standard. The cottage is beautifully presented with superior fixtures and fittings. The added bonus of the hot tub and slipper bath make it even more special. It is situated in a perfect location for visiting York."
"The description and photographs absolutely describe this beautifully renovated farm building. The quality of all the fixtures and fittings were way beyond any of the self catering accomodation that we have stayed in,and all the extras eg cling film kitchen roll soap etc etc were much appreciated as was the welcome basket full of goodies. The owners were lovely and ensured that you were happy with everything and gave good advice about roads and area, all in all we both loved being in our own personal retreat with the bonus of relaxing in the hot tub at the end of exploring Yorkshire ."
