Reviews
"We stayed for 3 nights in October and had the most wonderful time. The cottage is cosy, with one real fire heating the whole place. The weather was terrible during our stay (it didn't stop raining) but we had such a lovely time. The owners have made a real effort to make this place comfortable. The use of space in the kitchen is really well done and the attention to detail makes it a real gem (from a choice of wine, gin and Prosecco glasses to good quality cling film and tin foil - this things make a difference!) The cottage allows for one dog to stay and the owners really make it easy for you. A welcome basket on the stairs with dog towels, wipes and a boot rack means its easy to keep the place clean. With just 2 rooms upstairs the cottage really is petite but the bedroom is a really good size with a walk in wardrobe with lighting and a REALLY comfortable kingsize (I think!) bed. The bathroom is very clean (looks almost brand new) and has plenty of space. We would highly recommend this cottage especially if you have a dog. We planned to visit many of natures gifts during our stay (low force, high force, the starry sky etc) but found ourselves just wandering through the woods (the entrance is almost on the door step) and discovered waterfalls, rivers, hills, sheep ! Teesdale is a really charming place, the people are so friendly and with a choice of pubs, restaurants, cafes, bistro etc a 5 min walk form the cottage we were delighted to park the. car on Friday and not get in it again until Monday."
"Stayed in this delightful cosy cottage for a week and it is extremely clean and comfortable and has everything you need. The hosts are lovely and left a bottle of wine for us on our arrival which was a really nice touch. The area is great for walking and cycling and the local pubs and cafes are only a few minutes walk away. Would definitely recommend "
"Great little cottage. Fabulous, comfy bed and cozy wood stove. Local pub/hotel well worth a visit, especially for something to eat. The perfect unwind from work... Highly recommended."
"We and our two labs had five great nights at Owl Cottage and would recommend staying here. The fixtures and fittings are of a very high quality and the log burner is so nice to return to after long walks. Lovely attention to detail (DVDs, logs, quality bed and bedding, kitchen equipment etc). The king size bed was extremely cozy and comfortable! and the modern bathroom and thick carpet very welcome. If you have dogs, find the cafe they are welcome in and the food cooked by the French Chef at The Forresters was as fantastic as at our last visit in 2011."
"Well equipped, spotlessly clean cottage, with everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Middletin-in- Teesdale is a very charming village with a good atmosphere, everyone we met were very friendly and helpful particullarly people in the surrounding cottages near to where we stayed. Loads of great places to visit and places of interest nearby.Barnard Castle (outstanding fish and chips) and Eggleston Garden nearby, well worth a visit. Owl Cottage is very well maintained to a high standard, would definitely recommend and visit again."
"Lovely cottage in a brilliant location. The cottage was immaculate throughout and had little extras that made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. Information on local amenities was very helpful and the wood-burner stove had been lit prior to our arrival, making the cottage lovely and warm! We literally do not have any negative comments about the cottage and are already planning our next visit!"
"The cottage was very well decorated and the owner has included all the things you need to make your holiday a relaxing experience. We would recommend Owl Cottage to anyone looking for a nice relaxing break. Short walk to the village, nice places to eat and drink and the locals make you feel very welcome, including your dog if you take one. Excellent places to visit which are a short drive away."
"What a beautiful property - thoughtfully modernised and decorated. Contact with the owners was excellent and helpful (they even left us a much appreciated pressie for our wedding anniversary - I only asked if there was a vase for some flowers!). The Wenlock burner was on for our arrival and kept the whole cottage warm for our stay. The bed is amazingly comfortable and about 6ft. wide. No promises, but we would like to go back next year - 4 days wasn't enough to enjoy all the Middleton- in-Teesdale area."
"Lovely property, immaculate condition - highly recommended"
"Wood burner was glowing as we walked into the cottage, very welcoming. The cottage is small but perfect with everything that you could possibly need. The location is brilliant with excellent walks right from the door. The village is just a few minutes walk away, with pub, coop, tourist information centre and various cafes and shops. We had a brilliant time here and would thoroughly recommend it. A down side for some is that it has no WiFi and no secure garden or yard for dog owners."
"It was everything we wanted and would have received 5 stars but for the following reason. Carrying the microwave from a cupboard to sit on the dining table was annoying. Better planning would have found a permanent place for the device. We know Middleton from previous visits and were, even so, pleasently surprised by the the decent cafes we found and of course the lovely Teesdale itself. Excellent value for money. Recommended"
