Ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire, the ancient fishing port of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is well placed to act as a base for anyone looking to explore either the coast or the North York Moors. With winding streets and hidden alleys, Whitby is a charming and atmospheric town wrapped around a picturesque harbour and a safe sandy beach. Reviews
"Cottage is very central and the parking permit came in handy.its well equipt but could do with some sharp knives We found the cottage to be very cold. It still has storage heaters and the one in the frount room doesnt work. The fridge and the boiler.broke during out stay. The stairs are very slippy and steep so be careful.and hang your coat up at your own risk."
"Lovely little cottage, right in the middle of the old part of Whitby, at the bottom of the famous 199 steps. Unfortunately this meant that we were woken every morning either by people shouting, dust carts (almost every day for some reason) or delivery vans struggling to get through the very narrow street and also noisy till quite late in the evening with people out and about enjoying the nearby pubs, and the Church bells every 15 minutes. The streets are so narrow that people taking photos lean against the front window and you can touch the dust carts from the first floor window! If that's not a problem, then the cottage was lovely, well equipped with all you could need. It is small, but it is an old grade 2 listed fisherman's cottage. Three flights of narrow twisting tricky staircases. Tastefully decorated and a great base to explore Whitby. Not the cleanest of accommodation we have stayed in. Welcome pack on arrival - which was a nice touch. Shame that the only view over Whitby was out of the bathroom window."
"Lovely little cottage clise to everything you need. Well equipped and right at the bottom of the 199 steps. Provably not for the elderly or infirm due to the steep steps but lovely in every other way. Nearest pub about 50 yards the Duke of York friendly staff and excellent food. Would have no hesitation in returning to this cottage for another holiday."
