"We have really enjoyed our stay at Croft Cottage. Beautifully renovated barn conversion, spacious accommodation, scrupulously clean, delightful decor, comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, nicely done bathroom, useful utility room, efficient heating system. Sadly the weather during our stay meant we couldn't enjoy the grounds, but we could imagine sitting out in the private and peaceful grounds with a glass of chilled white, even if we couldn't do it!"

"Croft cottage is a superb place to spend a weeks holiday. It has everything you need and is very cosy, especially when you have the log burner on. The cottage is a 10 minute drive to the A1, which takes you to some beautiful sites like Bamburgh castle and Holy Island. My wife and I had a wonderful holiday and would think of returning again in the future."

"My wife booked Coft Cottage in Northumbria at the last minute for a Birthday treat for the two of us. Having young children we could only get away for one night but immediately upon arriving we were made to feel welcome. Jeremy and Elaine , the owners , had gone out of their way and bought my wife a bottle of wine and a Birthday card , which were waiting for us when we arrived. Jeremy popped over and explained how everything worked and asked if we had any plans , we said that we might have a walk into the nearest village for drinks and a meal, he explained that due to the recent flooding , the ground was soaked and offered to drop us off and return later on that evening to collect us. Such is the gentleman's genuine kindness .The cottage itself is simply stunning , it is generously proportioned and exquisitely decorated throughout. Whilst it looks like it came straight from the pages of a glossy magazine , it is so well furnished with its fixtures and fittings that you feel totally at home in its countryside comfort. The modern , stylishly-simple kitchen has everything that you would need for your stay (long or short ) and the cottage has a great range of dvd, blu rays , books and boardgames to keep any family entertained. There are 2 bathrooms /toilets (ideal for families with small children ) and both are immaculately spotless , as are the 2 well sized bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin). The double bed was amazingly comfortable and guaranteed a great nights sleep. The rest of the cottage comes very well equipped with everything you may need for a few days or an extended visit. The property also boasts a centre-piece wood burner and a very efficient central heating system. My wife loved our time there and it really did make her Birthday one to remember. Our only regret was that our stay couldn't have been longer. We would definitely recommend Croft cottage to anyone who wants a relaxing , enjoyable holiday with perfect hosts. Thank you both for making our short stay so special."

"we stayed at this amazing barn from the 22/6/13 for two weeks, having never been to northumberland before, we did not know what to expect, but we had the most wonderful surprise of one being a glorious place, but also the base of our holiday, croft cottage was amazing!!! from the moment we stepped into the barn we could not get over how big it was! it was beautiful ,tastefully furnished and decorated with lots of lovely touches, like the toiletries and the sheets had a beautiful scent and a comfortable bed and lots of towels which was a great surprise, as we bought our own with us! the surrounding countryside was peaceful and quiet, the owners jeremy and elaine were warm, funny and approachable. this property is a gem and i really did not want to place a review of this piece of heaven, but i knew i must as it was a great find, and anyone who stays here will love it! it is situated perfectly for all places that you need to visit, and there is a lot! we were very sad to leave both the cottage and northumberland but we will definately be back! thank you so much x"

We could not fault Croft Cottage. Thank you again to Elanie & Jermey"

"Well - where do we start! From the moment we arrived at the cottage in a secluded little spot just near Embleton, we knew our week ahead would be pleasurable. We were greeted by Jeremy (one of the owners) who welcomed us to the cottage and showed us around ensuring we knew how everything worked and that are needs were catered for. The Cottage itself was even better than it looked in the pictures - light, spacious and in a lovely spot. Everything we needed for the week was there. There is ample space both in and outside the property with a real wood burning stove for those chilly winter evenings. The location suited us down to the ground as it was ideally placed for exploring the Northumbria coastline and all the local attractions. Both Jeremy and Elaine offered some useful tips on the best places to go and visit, which made our stay all the more enjoyable. The cottage would suit both individuals, couples and families (in our case two adults and a 13 week old baby). The cottage was immaculate, the owners friendly and welcoming and the location perfect. We will be back next year!"

"We stayed in Croft Cottage for a week with our 2 year old daughter. The location is perfect - a detached cottage with a couple of other houses down a little lane made us feel well into the countryside yet we were only a few miles from the town of Alnwick and all the amenities we needed. The cottage is beautifully presented and the owners very welcoming. Our daughter loved the field and the swing at the bottom, and we appreciated being able to walk from the door if we wanted to. The furniture and decor is modern and clean; the kitchen had everything we wanted and the TV, DVD player and stereo system with a link for an ipod are all modern. The beds are comfy and the furniture well chosen. The extra cloakroom and small utility with washer/drier all came in handy. The rooms were all very warm - none of the cold bathrooms or small rooms that you get in some cottages. The owners provided us with a lovely highchair. As there is no access to the loft room, we appreciated having no stairs to worry about for our toddler as the bedrooms and living area are all on one level. The coast is only a short drive away with lovely walks and pubs and the A1 is minutes in the other direction to enable you to speed off to places further afield. All in all one of the best cottages we have stayed in in a while. First Class."

"We liked it so much that on our return home we booked it for next year. We are regular uses of holiday cottages throughout the UK and we holiday one week in most months and take our word that this cottage is luxury and comfort. What I liked was the cooker as I love cooking. Once I got used to it I found it cooked very well. The area is beautiful with interesting places to visit. I think my wife and I will be visiting Croft Cottage for years to come. As for the down side to be honest I can not think of one."

"Elaine and Jeremy couldn't have gone to more trouble to help my new husband plan for our arrival for a 3 day mini-honeymoon after our wedding. We entered to smell fresh red roses, burning fire and to my joy some champagne chilling in the fridge. The cottage was stunning - gorgeous beams in open plan living. We were shown how to use the wood fire - the absolute centre piece for the lounge and spent a fabulous few days walking on the beaches at Bamburgh and Embleton and curling up in front of the fire at night. Nothing seemed too much trouble and we were even offered a lift to the local pub! We are already planning to come back to the area as it is enchanting. Highly recommend this cottage to anyone!"

The owners of the cottage welcome visitors on arrival and are available to ensure that their stay runs smoothly. Looking forward to a fourth visit next year."

"I was a little worried when I read one of the reviews on here but I needn't to have been - we had no problems whatsoever. The owners (Jeremy & Elaine) are very welcoming and live in the adjacent farm building, they made sure that we knew how to get hold of them if we needed to (at any time) - we didn't need to but I would have felt more than comfortable going and knocking on their door if needs be. Cottage is easy to find, not too far from the A1 and down a farm track - on arriving we found everything to be clean, tidy and in good/excellent condition - yes it took us a little while to work out how to light the oven, but once we did really no problems there. Elaine & Jeremy clearly take great pride in ensuring that anything they do in the cottage is of a high standard - and it really is a home away from home. Great sound system and easy to plug your ipod or mp3 player into it, fantastic large flat screen tv/dvd player for those cosy nights in front of the log burner. Utility room is a bonus - especially the washer/dryer after a day's walking. Bedroom (as with rest of cottage was really clean and well furnished) and bed really comfy. Ideally located for visits to Bamburgh, Holy Island, Seahouses, Craster and Alnwick which are all very short drives from the cottage, and Cragside which takes slightly longer to get to, but still not far. Alnwick has Morrisons and Sainsbury if you want the major supermarkets - so not far to go to stock up on the essentials. Ate out a couple of times - Joiners is nice, but for a similar price we had an excellent meal at the Treehouse Restaurant at Alnwick Garden (you have to book in advance). Made good use of the kitchen (and it's wine glasses!) as well, so best of both worlds - we wanted to chill and that's what we did. Another plus for us was the wifi. Downside (for some) was no signal on 3 or Vodafone - you need Orange or O2. Thanks for a great week - we'll hopefully be back at some point!"

"We found the cottage down a very long bumpy lane around approx. 2/3 mile from the main road. The cottage was lovely to look at, in and outside everything the brochure prmoised. We found the range cooker difficult to use especially the oven as it would not light automatically and had to use a lighter which was not easy. I thought it was a safety hazzard along with the dishwasher that had no bottom plate to cover the element. Also not nice oven trays only rusty ones which I had to use with tin foil. General lack of utensils. The shower leaked all over the floor as the screen did not keep the water in at the wall edge of the screen/bath. The main bed was comfortable. Overall I think with a little bit of TLC it could be made back into a really lovely cottage that it is. The area surrounding Embleton was lovely. Alnwick had the "Harry Potter" castle and lovely restaurants nearby, made it an ideal place to stay"
