Nestled on the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park beneath Ingleborough, one of the famous ‘Three Peaks', this attractive village offers a wide selection of amenities including shops, pubs and places to eat. With pretty, winding streets centring on a tiny market place, this is an incredibly pretty location though the village is best known for its White Scar Caves which are situated a mile outside of the village on the road to Hawes. These astonishing caves are open to the public and display a dazzling array of stalactites and stalagmites, caverns and a huge underground lake. The ‘Fall Walk', which incorporates the impressive cascading waterfalls of the region is close by, adding to a long list of reasons that make this an excellent touring base for those looking to holiday in North Yorkshire.
Reviews
"We had a fantastic week in Warth Barn. Thank you Shula for making us so welcome. The house was very clean, lovely bedding and the kitchen was so well equipped. Shula was most helpful throughout our stay and even after, when we realised we had left something! Our stay was most memorable, comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you"
"We have just returned for a second stay at this delightful converted barn. We were a group of 9 hiking friends who stay in various accommodation every month. Warth Barn is the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. From the moment you arrive you know you are very welcome, with a freshly made cake and drinks waiting for you on the table. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and in the basement there is a drying room with washing machine and tumble dryer. This is a large dining table able to seat 10 as well as a very large corner sofa with plenty of room for everyone, good size TV, games and a log burner, The bedrooms and bathrooms are immaculately presented, plenty of hot water and heating. We stayed during the coldest night of the year and the place was extremely cosy. We will continue to return each year,"
"This is without doubt one of the nicest holiday homes we have had the pleasure to stay in. Equipped and finished to the highest standard we immediately felt at home. We travelled as two families and this cottage gave us the cosiness of a comunal get together with the added advantage of en suite facilities to ensure our privacy. There is a lovely garden for the children to play in and it felt really safe with no passing traffic. Geographically it was well placed to explore the local area and we didnt travel far to enjoy some really good days out. Thanks to Shula and family for making us feel welcome. I have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation to anyone wanting to visit this beautiful part of our country."
"We have just come back from a 1 week stay with 7 adults and 3 children. There was plenty of room for all of us. The barn is very luxurious, we didn't want to come home! It has everything you need even for children including toys, safety gates, high chairs and a cot. Would definitely recommend and hopefully will be going back soon."
"We stayed with our two daughters and their children. The property was beautifully clean and well appointed. There is an outdoor play area and plenty of outdoor toys. There is lots to do in the area, and a good play park beyond the viaduct in Ingleton."
"Well equipped, spacious and beautiful accommodation. In a convenient location for a nice stroll into the village and a choice of places to visit. Perfect got three generations of one family."
"A cake and a bottle of fizz on the dining table is almost as nice as meeting up with the extended family at the start of a long-awaited holiday. There is a clear indication that the owners, hardworking farmers, want you to have a nice time, as they well understand the scarcity and value of leisure time themselves. Everything is there to ensure an enjoyable stay. Our highlight was chatting to Ernest, the former farm owner and whose family are now carrying on a great tradition. He is an absolutely charming and unassuming man who brings alive the history of the farm in a way no book could ever do. Amazingly, there's no extra charge for his services."
"Very well appointed cottage with everything you could possible need for a lovely holiday. The owners could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The cottage is an ideal base to explore this beautiful area."
"Really lovely cottage well appointed interior with especially lovely bathrooms. Spotlessly clean. Short walk into the village. Lots to do around cottage also with the lakes a short drive away. Very friendly owners."
"We rented this converted barn for 2 weeks in the spring, and used it as a base camp for various friends and family to come visit. It was one of our best vacations ever, no exaggeration. We were 5 adults and 1 toddler, plus another 2-4 family members at any given time visiting, and this wonderful home hosted us all with style, ease and comfort. The best part, in my opinion, was that we were there during lambing season, and we could watch the little lambs bouncing around their patient mothers right from our patio. It was lovely! Not to mention the incredible view of the mountains. It really is a fantastic location. The owners (and their family) are delightful, and left us a *delicious* cake as a welcome treat, along with some wine - such a nice way to arrive. They also had a great book full of local attractions and helpful suggestions. The kitchen was beautifully appointed, and we cooked a number of fantastic meals there. One night we actually had about 12 people in, without feeling cramped. We even BBQ'd. The bedrooms were comfy and very nicely decorated. The common room was great - plenty of room for people to play games, read the paper and watch tv without getting in anyone else's way. Not only would I recommend this place to others, but I can't wait to be able to go back ourselves."
"We were met by the cottage owners who made us feel very welcome, with added touches such as fresh flowers, wine & a scrummy home made cake. Our party of 10 were of ages from 18 months to 60 years old and the cottage had catered for all age groups , from the box of toys for the baby to the playstation for the older children, as well as books & games for the adults. Outside, the trampoline & football nets were a great hit with children & adults alike. Further afield the waterfall walk was a great hit for a day out as were the caves."
"If you want luxury then stay at Warth Barn. Everything is done to a very high standard. spotlessly clean. The barn is wonderfully cosy with underfloor heating. Set in a quiet area looking out onto open fields. I stayed their with family members on a "mums and Daughters and Grandaughters long weekend" there was eight of us in our party and was more than enough room for us all. we would definately stay there again."
"We stayed here last week with family who are scattered across the country. We arrived to cake and wine and a beautifully equipped and very clean cottage. We celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary and 4th birthday so the age range was large...but we found something to do for everyone and didn't feel overcrowded at all. Thanks Sula for making us so welcome, and thanks to your dad for the chats and showing the children his tractors. We visited Ingleton falls, white scar caves, Malham Cove, some of us walked up Ingleborough, the children's playpark in Ingleton is great and amused children for a whole morning, we went to Bolton Abbey and the older children loved leaping the stepping stones, we also enjoyed the cheese factory in Hawes, especially the sampling!!! This is a luxurious cottage home from home, we would definately go back."
"We had a wonderful Xmas stay at Warth Barn which certainly merits its 5 star award. Fantastic accommodation in a beautiful setting with helpful neighbours and owners. What more can you ask for."
"This was a 60th Birthday treat for my husband and family. Everyone enjoyed everything about the accommodation, there was nothing the owners had not thought of to make our stay enjoyable. Even the Grandchildren enjoyed their stay. The weather was wet but this was not spoiled because of the warm and cosy Wrath Barn. This is the best accommodation alroung that we have stayed in. Thanks again."
"This is excellent accommodation. Very peaceful location with fiendly owners. Everything you need is included. The only down side for us was that it rained all week but we hope to return in the future with better weather."
"We came as a large party of adults and had a lovely stay for a week. The accommodation was beautifully appointed - a touch of luxury in self-catering. perfect for our needs."
"We could not fault this cottage at all! The decor, layout and cleanliness was well deserving of its 5 star rating. I would recommend this to any of my friends, and will return very soon. Pub at the bottom of the lane, does a mean Sunday lunch."
"This was a lovely property with amazing views.Quite spacious inside, lovely large family bathroom.Cosy bunkroom downstairs. Feel the owners could do more with the outside area,to compliment an already good inside! Warm and cosy inside, liked the under floor heating. Didnt like the rough track to get to the house!Cringed everytime we went up it,waiting for something to go 'crunch' under the car! And we dont have a low car! The location was great,we were central for all the nearby villages/towns. Excellent position for walks, direct from the house as well as driving to."
"The barn was amazing accommodation - plenty of room and well kept. It was warm, cosy and had lots of facilities. The views of Ingleborough were stunning and we found it was easy to access loads of different places and walks. We will be back!"
"Everything was perfect as we walked into the barn, a greeting card, homemade cake and a bottle wine. The accommodation was excellent, everything we needed. The location at the end of a little lane was great, with views over the outstanding countryside. Ingleton was close by to get in the provisions. From this base we travelled to many different locations. Their is nothing I can say to fault this accommodation."
