The lovely old village of Parwich is surrounded by beautiful countryside and dates back to the Saxon times, although there is evidence of a Roman farm at Roystone Grange nearby. Parwich has a village green, public house and a church as well as a post office with a general store. Cyclists and walkers will be well occupied with the lovely walks and paths in the area, one of them being the Manifold Trail which follows the Leek to Manifold light railway. There are many pretty villages within easy reach. Ilam, Alstonefield and Brassington all have an interesting past waiting to be discovered. With so much to offer in the way of sightseeing and outdoor activities, this peaceful area makes a great holiday base for all ages.
Reviews
"Great cottage on a small farm, everyone was really friendly but not too pushy. The accommodation was clean and comfortable with everything you'd need for a week's holiday. The site was close to a number of Derbyshire towns; Buxton, Bakewell and Ashbourne, with their attendant attractions. Three steps down into the cottage but everything flat once inside the cottage."
"Perfect with such good value. Upon arrival the complimentary farm eggs 🥚 were a really nice touch and made delicious omelette 👍"
"A good setting for access to the Peak District, the cottage is superb, everything you could want and we'll presented. We had a really enjoyable week there and would certainly recommend it and hope to return there in the future. The setting on a farm is ideal and, yes, the animals are a great bonus."
"Lovely place for a few days away to relax and unwind. Me and my boyfriend stayed in the stables for new years break and we had a relaxing time in the middle of nowhere. Nice with the donkeys and horses that we could feed as well and the owners were friendly and left the Christmas tree up and left us wine and mince pies as a welcoming treat! Enough space inside to store everything, clean and tidy Peaceful little get away"
"The owners are lovely and friendly and very helpful. My daughter loved feeding the goats and donkeys. Very secluded but couple of minutes drive to main road. Easy drive to Matlock, Bakewell and Ashbourne. Cottage has everything you need. Would definitely recommend."
"Beginning our stay in Dover Barn. A lovely cottage with everything we need. Such a relief to arrive after a very long & tedious journey. Confident that we will enjoy our week very much."
"Had a three night stay with two young grand children. .Very well placed to explore Ashbourne and Peak District and handy for Alton Towers. Peaceful location. Well appointed cottage with all you would need and made very welcome. Would stay again without hesitation."
"Beautiful cottage in a beautiful cottage. The hosts were always helpful and went out of their way to help us."
"We had Xmas week and could not have had a better choice of cottage. Utmost peace and quiet on lovely farm. Weather was changeable but the cottage remained cosy and warm. We will certainly be returning One small suggestion could be for a radio for guests. Thank you Irene and Tom for this lovely week"
"A stone cottage in a remote part of the Derbyshire Dales. The cottage is superbly furnished and extremely comfortable. The owners are very friendly and the whole atmosphere is one of peace and quiet. The cottage is ideally located for exploring the Dales and the many interesting places in the area. Thoroughly recommended to anyone wanting a quiet holiday away from the madding crowd."
