Reviews
"This Chocolate Box cottage is as lovely as the photo. Cosy, yet spacious rooms with tasteful decor, very comfy beds and large kitchen with every utensil you would ever need. Very large gardens with trees and lovely countryside views. Well placed for Bury St Edmunds, which is a very nice town just a few miles away with good shops and a very interesting Abbey and grounds. Close to lovely Suffolk villages like historic Lavenham and Constable country of Dedham and Flatford. You will not be disappointed with Faith Cottage - a perfect place for a peaceful and very interesting holiday. The owners have worked very hard to get it to this standard, all credit to them. Great place to stay!"
"We have been here many times, both in the winter and the summer. This has been a refreshing haven for us both as a couple and with our two children. In the Summer you can really appreciate the grounds and in the winter its great to curl up with the warmth of a log fire. Carol and Colin help make your visit easy and relaxing as they present this in perfect condition with all stocked crockery and cooking facilities. The local woodland area, just a walk down the lane this all adds to the Charm and beauty of Smallwood Green. We totally recommend this cottage for relaxing and refreshing the soul as a break from all our busy lives."
"Stayed with my sister and a friend. The cottage is over and above what we expected. So well-equipped & comfortable. We have no hesitation in recommending the cottage for a peaceful stay in the country."
"We are just returning from an amazing 2 weeks at Faith COTTAGE. Not only does it look beautiful but inside it is so well equipped. Carol and Colin have spent a long time making this cottage so special for our holidays. Everywhere you look there are fields and lovely views. Perhaps one thing I should mention that we needed to go out in the car every day as the nearest pub and shop were about 1.5 miles away . However there were great places to visit...Lavenham, Suffolk Owl Sanctuary with crazy golf, Bury St Edmunds itself, Ipswich, Norwich, Banham Zoo, Kentwell Hall and Gardens and so on....... But you will thoroughly feel at home at Faith COTTAGE. THOROUGHLY RECOMMENDED."
"We were welcomed with a smile and wonderful welcome, Colin and Carol have made this place a dream come true, plus all the complimentary gifts as well, we had fantastic weather and chilled out, we really did not want to leave. Thank you both for letting us share your dream home, it is a privilege and honour to have met you both. We will return at some point, hopefully during the summer months. Thank you once again Clive & Susie Buckinghamshire"
"Such a lovely cottage with great charm and character. Colin and Carol are very friendly and welcoming they have both done a brilliant job renovating this cottage and it's definitely paid off. We both had a relaxing week here unwinding after a busy life style. This property is a great location to explore suffolk and the local attractions like Anglesey Abbey, Lode Mill, Bury St Edmund's and Sudbury."
"What an amazing place!! Faith Cottage is absolutely beautiful. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere and the WOW factor throughout. It has been lovingly restored to an extremely high standard by the owners, Carol and Colin, and it was a real privilege to stay there. They gave us a very warm welcome and it was a lovely surprise to have the table laid with scones and jam and all we needed to begin our holiday without rushing out to the shops for basic provisions. Every single part of this cottage is beautiful...it was a joy discovering each room with all the character and querks... yet still very practical and well equipped. I particularly enjoyed my long soak in the roll top bath, which made for a luxurious and relaxing evening after our journey over. It had everything we needed for a wonderful weekend away. I would highly recommend this Cottage, and we will definitely be going back!"
"Faith Cottage was well equipped , beautifully furnished , immaculate and full of character features. The garden was pretty and surrounded by lovely countryside.Suffolk is a beautiful county with pretty coastline and lovely medieval villages. The owners of the cottage were so friendly and helpful and put in so much effort in ensuring that guests are comfortable and made welcome. We wouldn t hesitate to recommend Faith Cottage to anyone wishing to stay in a wonderful cottage in lovely and peaceful surroundings."
"This was everything we hoped for in a country cottage experience. We were made very welcome by the owners who had set out tea and scones for us. They lived near by and topped our wood up when needed. Watch your head on the staircase!"
"The hosts are very welcoming on arrival and so are the little touches that they provide, especially the cream tea. The cottage is beautifully restored and very comfortable. Home from home. The cottage has ecellent facilities with all the equipment you would find in your home. The gardens are delightful. The cottage is situated for days out and about not far from a variety of attractions. All in all a fabulous place to have a realaxing stay."
"My husband, two friends and myself stayed here in May 2009 but have never forgotten our visit to Faith Cottage it was so wonderful. The cottage looked so pretty on Sykes' website and didn't disappoint in the slightest. The owners couldn't have done more to make you feel at home, there were too many little touches to mention which you don't often find in rented cottages. If we ever get down that way again we would love to make a return visit and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a holiday in the area."
"The cottage was fully stocked with high quality utensils, linen, crockery etc., a warm welcome from the owners Carol and Colin. Nothing was too much trouble. The location was very peaceful, but was within 20 - 40 mins of easy driving to Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Sudbury. and more. The 4 of us had a very enjoyable stay."
"Carol and Colin are wonderful hosts and they've done a great job fulfilling their personal dream of repairing and fitting out Faith Cottage. It is beautifully appointed with quality furnishings, appliances and loving touches, It is comfortable, cozy and charming. Colin tells a great history of the place and his pride in his work is evident. The cottage is surrounded by very nice landscaping and farmer's fields. Like any centuries old house it has its quirks. If you're handicapped in any way, be careful. The bedrooms are up a steep staircase and the bath is downstairs. However, there is a convertible sofa on the ground floor that avoids the stair issue. We enjoyed our stay very much and would do it again in a minute."
"The cottage was ideal, location, cleanliness, everything was top notch."
"Not only did this look like the best cottage we had ever stayed in it was. The little touches added by the owners as well as their friendliness and kindness made it so. The cottage itself deserved the five stars it has got from us. It was beautiful, lacked nothing you could want and indeed immediately felt like a home not a holiday let. The location was good with access to Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. The area was very quiet and peaceful and the gardens of the cottage were kept beautifully and we enjoyed watchng and feeding the birds and the squirrels. We missed the deer unfortunately who we understand visit too but we did have a visit from the local rabbit population. All in all this cottage is highly recommended, unless of course, you are looking for wild nights out but for a country location it is ideal."
"It is a very nice cottage with very good quality furnishings. The owners live close by and are very nice people although they did not interfere. Quiet secluded area but plenty of places to visit within easy driving distance."
"Faith Cottage is a typically English thatched country cottage in a location ideal for exploring the Suffolk countryside and amenities and is convenient for visiting the university city of Cambridge. The welcome we received was more than we expected; we were made to feel more like friends than visitors. We intend to make a return visit."
"Our second visit to Faith Cottage with its thatched roof, beautiful peaceful garden and modern kitchen and bathroom which are scrupiously clean. The owners go out of their way to make sure you have a wonderful stay. You do have to take care going down the stairs as they are quite steep (a requirement of the building being listed). Pubs two miles away, supermarkets six miles, loads of farm shops in the area. Easy access to main roads for fast access to the Suffolk/Norfolk coast."
"The cottage is beautiful, both with old beams and with a modern, large kitchen. It is a listed cottage, so the staircase to the first floor apparently could not be made less steep. Another handrail would have been nice, though, as I tripped down the stairs and twisted my ankle quite badly. However, we have recommended the cottage to some friends of ours"
