The lovely High Peaks village of Edale is the start of the Pennine way and lies at the foot of Kinder Scout. It has two pubs, and one of them, The Nags Head, is usually accepted as the start of The Pennine Way walk. With credentials like these it's little wonder that the area attracts so many walkers, and they won't be disappointed. The village has a general store combined with a post office and a Moorland Visitor Centre. Castleton is only four miles away and is a village that has something for everyone, a ruined Norman Castle, Blue John caves and all under the auspicious gaze of Mam Tor, "The Shivering Mountain." All in all the charming village of Edale is a fabulous holiday location.
Reviews
"We have just stayed in the stables for a week and it could not have been any better. The cottage has everything you could need. It is very spacious and clean. The views are amazing. The cottage is located in a lovely area and close to lots of the local attractions and places of interest. We will certainly be staying there again. The chickens are very entertaining. Thanks Amanda and Craig."
"Just finished a weeks stay here and can't praise this place enough. We are a group of blokes who go cycling one a year and have rented a few of this type of place over the years. This has definitely been the best so far. It is well equipped, clean, spacious and for us (needing easy access to cycle routes) ideally located. Nice quite location (apart from the sheep) has a secure lockup for our bikes and a nice view from the patio when relaxing with a beer after a days ride. The owners are very pleasant and helpful, and thoughtful too, we arrive to find milk in the fridge, plenty of tea and coffee and a lovely lemon drizzle cake waiting for us. Highly recommended, and I would certainly go back."
"Lovely family-run cottage (the owners live next door.) Pleasant, sunny garden, clean and modern cottage. Would definitely go back."
