Reviews
"Fantastic cottage with everything you need. Spent a long weekend with family 4 adults and 5 grandchildren and dog, location is fabulous for walks right in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales. Cosy evenings in with the wood burner/open fire and family games. Highly recommend the cottage"
"Our family came here, having visited the Dales many times before, and we were all blown away by the wonderful views. The location is fabulous as you are remote enough to enjoy peace and quiet but close to lots of villages and amenities when you choose to venture out. The house is comfortable whilst also offering plenty of space for a large family. We have really enjoyed our stay and already booked again for next year! A fantastic week!"
"Pinehurst was a great choice to bring together family and friends to celebrate my 60th. It is a lovely house in a fabulous location in Wensleydale, being very well equipped and a very comfortable base for enjoying the Dales countryside and attractions. The terrace is an excellent spot to enjoy the views and tranquility and to watch the sun go down (if you are lucky) whilst enjoying your favourite tipple. Mel recommended Berrys Farm Cafe for food and we loved a family Sunday breakfast and a mid-week lunch there (the sandwiches are enormous!). Thanks Mel!"
"My children booked this beautiful house for a surprise weekend to celebrate my 60th Birthday, with a lot of us to cater for including partners and grandchildren it was perfect. Home from home- beautiful interior-lovely log burner for really cosy cold night. We all enjoyed every minute of our weekend. And I would like to think we will be back at some point. It was a perfect peaceful area and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a rural break."
"Just back from a fantastic long weekend in this idyllic home from home. Stunning location in the heart of mid-Wensleydale. Yes there maybe no amenities in the local village but 5 minutes drive down the road is Aysgarth Garage and it's got a great shop selling loads of essentials. The George & Dragon also at Aysgarth was really good. We walked to Aysgarth Falls and called in at the Hotel there. Highly recommend. The house has gorgrous views and with the apparent recent addition of wifi went down a treat with the younger members of our party. The room layout is really good with a separate sitting room with open fire for us oldies and the cosy open plan sitting room/dining room and kitchen making a perfect social space for our large group with a gorgeous double sided log burner (with wood provided). The house is supplied with EVERYTHING you could possibly need. The beds and bedding were really comfortable and everywhere was very clean. The tea/coffee and WINE were a nice welcome touch from the owners, whom were very helpful prior to our visit, and with the information provided at the house. We will definitely return, impact didn't want to leave. "
"Stayed here for a long weekend with several friends. The house is in a stunning location with fantastic views, however it is quite remote. Everything is provided , good quality linen, towels, plus plenty of crockery utensils etc. The house was clean and tidy and also has very good wifi. Would recommend . "
"The cooker inside and out had baked on grease on the surfaces and cooker trays had not been cleaned after the last use The downstairs toilet had excrement under the toilet bowl rim The toilet door bolt on the doors of the upstairs and downstairs toilet were very difficult to use as the bolt holes did not match the bolts I had to fix the cupboard hinge in the on suit bathroom also the bedside light switch in an upstairs bedroom There were 3 light bulbs missing from the snug ceiling light We could not get a phone signal nor a wifi signal There was not enough bin bags toilet rolls or paper towels We believe in leaving as you find we had to clean and hoover before we left which was 10am in the morning ps supervise your cleaners do your job as manager we paid a lot of money for this holiday"
"Our large family, 6 adults and 6 children (7 to 16 years) stayed in early April and the house was well furnished, particularly the kitchen but we found that for the numbers of people, there are not enough bathrooms. There is a large double bedroom on the ground floor which has no bathroom and there is plenty of space in there to provide an en suite. The location is quite remote and there are no facilities within reasonable walking distance particularly in the rain which unfortunately persisted for almost the whole week we were there. Walking was a nightmare as all the fields and paths were waterlogged. The large garden and the views are fabulous and will be so much better in the summer. The owner was very helpful before and after our visit. There was no WiFi and no mobile signal for most of us for the week so the older children were devastated at not being able to contact the outside world. There are some lovely places to visit in the area by car, Hawes is a nice village about 5miles west and Leyburn about 10miles East. Aysgarth falls are quite dramatic and the Forbidden Corner is an amazing labyrinth of man made tunnels well worth a visit. All in all the house is good except for the lack of bathrooms and WiFi/mobile signal."
"Couldn't fault this cottage it was perfect for a family get together Everyone loved it and the cottage is well equipped definitely a home from home feel about the place. The location is great for walks and visiting Aysgarth Falls and the views are stunning. Definitely return. "
"We rented this property for Dad's 80th birthday celebrations. We needed five bedrooms and somewhere not too far away for a short break. We loved everything about the house. Lovely to be able to cook and still hear what was being said in the 'snug' and at the dining table. The double oven was great when doing Sunday dinner for ten and there were more than enough kitchen utensils, cutlery, bowls etc. Even Yorkshire pudding trays. The beds were very comfortable and I can vouch for the 'pull out from under bed' in the smallest room. We have said that we need to have family get togethers on a more regular basis and we would certainly go to Pinehurst again. Excellent."
"My daugher, mother in law and I rented Pinehurst for a week in July and had different groups of friends staying for a few days during the week. Everyone loved the house snd its facilities but I have to say, for me, the view was the best thing. First thing in the morning I was out there with my cup of coffee and last thing at night I was out there with my glass of wine. A herd of Jersey cows were in a field below the house whilst differnet groups of sheep and cows joined me in the field literally next to where I was sitting. Pinehurst is 1/2 way up one side of Wensleydale with an uninterrupted view of the other side of the valley. My ineptitiude with the security system for keys was no problem at all to the owner who had to help me over the phone. The house - particulalry the kitchen - is kitted out with everything you could possibly want. A truly lovely place to stay. No wonder it is booked so much."
"The holiday was a family get together to celebrate my Mum's 70th birthday. The cottage was a delight -spotlessly clean, modern and with stunning views. There was enough room for the whole family, 10 adults, 2 children, a baby and 2 dogs! The kitchen is well equipped- plenty of cutlery, crockery, pans and cookware. There are 3 very spacious bedrooms, a smaller double and small box room with 2 beds. The cottage is isolated- you have to drive to get even the basics as there are no shops nearby. We loved visiting Aysgarth Falls, Hawes and the Wensleydale Creameries, Bolton Castle and the Forbidden Corner. The dogs enjoyed playing in the garden and the countryside walks from right outside the cottage. The communication with the owner was friendly and informative. We did fall lucky with the weather and I'm not sure if we would have enjoyed our stay as much if we had rain but I would definitely return."
"Large property, well appointed, great kitchen, bedrooms good size. Good quality bedlinen and towels. Although the property sleeps 12 there are only 8 dining chairs, although there are a couple of other wooden chairs, they are rather too low for the table. There is only one tv, so kids and adults will have to compromise! Although there is a large garden, it is only suitable for older children as it is almost vertical in places with some rather unstable steps. We had an issue with the amount of rubbish bags provided, which we have flagged up with the holiday company, so hopefully that will be improved."
"This house was amazing. So well appointed and in such a great location. Nice 2 mile walk to the pub with great food. Peace and quiet, everything you could need is there (apart from a potato peeler). Log burner great and there was no shortage of hot water even though there was 8 adults. Would go back tommorrow if we could. The oven was a delight to cook on and the whole kitchen diner made for a great social atmosphere. We will be going back in the near future."
"This is a lovely house in a good position but we were very disappointed to find the temperature only 7C inside when we arrived although the thermostat was set to 16C. We turned the thermostat up and eventually the temperature reached an acceptable level. Later in the evening the circuit breaker for the boiler flipped and the house gradually got very cold again. When we flipped the circuit breaker back on the heating returned only until we ran hot water and then the circuit flipped off again. No heating! No hot water! Bitterly cold outside and getting colder inside! We phoned the owner in desperation because the house was very cold and we were travelling with an infant and an elderly, frail person. The owner lives hundreds of miles away and offered no assistance apart from saying we'd caused the problem by plugging in a baby monitor. Since the heating still blew the circuit when the baby monitor was not plugged in I think she was clutching at straws. She called out a plumber the next morning who found condensation where it shouldn't have been and said he thought that had caused the problem. He removed that and said "That should fix it." Given the bitterly cold weather and the fact that the temperature inside, the house dropped to 7C during the night we decided not to risk staying and left for a hotel. This house is in a lovely position so, perhaps a summer stay would be OK. But we found it cold when we arrived and the heating failed during our stay. It is no exaggeration to say we were lucky no-one died of hypothermia during the night."
