"Stayed last week of May, couple with two girls aged 12 and 6. This was a lovely cottage and we really enjoyed our stay. The decor and olde world ambience made the cottage really welcoming and cosy. The kitchen is adequate for making basic meals (we ate in most nights), easy to prepare say pasta or jacket potatoes. When we didn't fancy cooking, there's a fish shop near Greenodd about 10 minutes drive away and the Beijing Garden delivers from Ulverston. Watch the belfast sink when you are washing up, its lethal. There are a couple of pubs within driving distance but we didn't try them. There are no pubs or shops in the village so everything requires a drive so try to make sure you have everything you need! The main room and dining area are really cosy and have a lovely cottage feel. There's a wood burning stove but we only got left one log so bought our own. Not much provided amusement wise, except for freeview and two jigsaws, could maybe do with a couple of games, i'd have brought some if i'd known. The bedrooms are comfy but the girl's room lacked anywhere to put their clothes so they lived out of their cases all week. Bathroom very nice with amazing overhead shower, all very good but only got one toilet roll for four of us for the week??...so again provided our own. The wifi was really unpredictable for the first few days (leaving my 12 year old in a right tiz) but somehow or other sped up midweek, don't know why, but i think its shared with the cottage next door. Nice big (unenclosed) garden, the weather was only good enough for us to sit out one evening with lots of sheep bleating in the field next door. The drive is a bit of an effort to get in and out of, could do with tarmac instead of those stones, but wheels spinning we managed to reverse in (its best to reverse in), but one day we caught the stones on the right and scratched the bumper!! There's plenty to do in driving distance, we went to Piel castle on the little boat, took the steam train to the aquarium, had a boat ride on Coniston water and one day when the weather was a bit iffy we took the girls to Barrow swimming pool which is great with its slide and wave machine. Nearby Ulverston is also really pretty. All in all we had a great stay. Found a bottle of wine on our arrival which was a nice touch. Clean, comfy and warm, if a bit 'cut off'."

"This is a lovely cosy cottage in a great area close to the southern lakes and this is our second visit so I would recomend it. However there are some things you may need to know to make your visit more enjoyable. The cooking equipment is basic, if you are intending to cook proper food you may need to bring equipment. There is no corkscrew or bottle opener of any kind. The garden is not enclosed and this is not made clear until you arrive but you are informed that the farmer next door will shoot your dog if they wander on to his land. This caused us some stress and really tainted our visit even though our dog is very well behaved. It is tricky getting onto the the drive. We have a tiny car but we found it easier to get in when approaching from the B9581 bur exiting through the village. They do not allow dogs in to most pubs in Ulverston but the old Friends pub in Ulverston is a great pub and very dog friendly. We really enjoy our time at this cottage and its fantastic value for money"
