The delightful market town of Hawes is the highest settlement in Wensleydale and home to the delicious Wensleydale cheese. The town is also famous for rope making; a skill passed down through the generations and a fascination for many of the visitors that come to the town. A regular market is held on a Tuesday and Hawes has many excellent shops and eateries in its midst. The beautiful limestone countryside surrounding the town provides a huge variety of walks and other outdoor pursuits, and for sightseeing opportunities the area is unsurpassed with the spectacular Hardraw Force and the Aysgarth falls just two of the natural wonders to be seen. Hawes is a delightful town and makes a superb base for a holiday in this magnificent area.
Reviews
"Loved this little cottage didnt want to leave. Great location, very cosy and wecoming they had everything we needed. The real fire made it homely and my daughter made bread using the fire to help it rise. This gorgeous little place will be on my list to stay at again."
"Really nice cottage in a brilliant location. Great open fire perfect for cosy nights in from the cold although no wood provided and only very little coal. Good facilities including wi-fi which oddly we didn't see advertised. Cleanliness could be improved, lip and finger marks on cups and glasses, food marks still on some plates. Would benefit from an outside tap for muddy walking/biking gear. Overall we had a really nice and enjoyable stay but some small things that could easily be improved would have made it perfect."
"Every type of winter weather prevailled during our stay in late February, just as we expected. However the cottage was delightful, beautifully decorated and welcoming. When we weren't out enjoying the stormy weather, the cottage was a warm retreat. The fireplace was a bonus,it tested our memories taking us back to childhood."
