Reviews
"Magical area.Stunning countryside studded with dry stone walling field boundaries.Beautiful hillside views.Sheep, lambs, cows, rabbits, red squirrel, grey squirrel, deer, pheasants, curlews, all spotted whilst out and about(and most of these from the windows of Howlugill barn). The property was all that I hoped it would be(spacious, well furnished, very well equipped, clean, peaceful and quiet.)The owners, Jackie and David made us very welcome."
"We really didn't want to leave this wonderful place this morning. Spent the perfect week there. Beautifully furnished. Best weeks sleep on the most comfortable beds. Will miss the call of the curlew, the house martins flitting in and out of their nests feeding their young and the lapwings in the field . It is incredibly quiet with wonderful views."
"A truly perfect place to stay..a magical setting. Mrs Seddon made us very welcome and Howlugill Barn has left us with some precious memories. "
"We really enjoyed our stay here. The cottage is nicely furnished, has lovely views and the owners are very friendly and helpful. It's a great location for exploring Yorkshire and County Durham. "
"Our hosts were very friendly, welcoming and informative about the area. We were very comfortable and well catered for. This is an excellent base to visit the Lakes, North Yorkshire, Durham and Newcastle. A visit to nearby Bowes Museum is an absolute must, but get there in time to see the Silver Swan at 2.00 pm. Just a couple of things to bear in mind; there is no freezer and you are remote from shops - Barnard Castle is the nearest; and the access must be treated with care if you vehicle is low, although the hosts do use a sports car which shows it can be done!"
