Situated in the south of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a wonderful example of an English market town. With a traditional market square, eclectic street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses, the heyday of this settlement came in the 18th Century when the town was a fashionable social centre. Many fine Georgian buildings remain from this era, adding an air of elegance to the town's heart. With numerous restaurants and inns, Ashbourne is also regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters. For those who prefer outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by, offering wonderful walking opportunities. Alton Towers Theme Park is just 20 minutes drive away and makes a fun day out for all the family.
Reviews
"This is a gorgeous, cosy cottage in the middle of beautiful countryside. It has all the facilities you could possibly need and the owners are dedicated to ensuring the stay goes smoothly. The location is rural but with good access to lovely towns and Alton Towers. The teenagers missed the WiFi but they thoroughly enjoyed themselves anyway!"
"We were very impressed with the cottage, the kitchen was well equipped and the lounge was warm and comfortable. The cottage itself was isolated which was great for us but with no local shops, you would need a car. We stayed there with friends and there was plenty of parking for two cars and more and plenty of room for four adults in the cottage. I have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years but this one has to be one of the best ever. If there was a tiny fault it was picking up a phone signal but bearing in mind the location, this was to be expected. Couldn't fault it in any other way."
"I travelled to Marsh Cottage in August with my husband and son. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this cottage. It was so peaceful and had everything we needed. The cottage was spotless and the fresh flowers was a lovely touch. We were left tea/coffee milk and biscuits. We picked this cottage as it was close to Alton Towers and we are so glad we did."
"A charming cottage well located to visit the southern parts of the Peak District. Well maintained with everything you can think of provided. Not too isolated, but away from the crowds! Will certainly be back."

"Chose this cottage for its close proximity to alton Towers and so glad we did!only took about 15 mins to get there in the car. Marsh cottage is comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The location is peaceful and relaxing, great after a noisey day at a theme park or a day exploring the local area."
