Reviews
"We chose Carrigaholt for a week for a bit of peace and quiet and the unspoilt wild we had read about. The large stone cottage used to be a restaurant and has a lot of original features. The beds are comfy, the lounge spacious and the wood burger on hand if you want to cosy up. The place wasn't entirely spotless but a few cobwebs did not deter us. There is no wifi, but that's sometimes a good thing. The post office across the street is great, and the postmaster will help you with any questions, even supply you with eggs and local produce should you fancy it. He get 5* in our experience. The cottage is also ideally located at the end of the small street where right next to the little oyster bay which gets the afternoon sun. Lovely village, lovely cottage and lovely stay."
"Had a wonderful stay, we have 3 three children from 2 -6 years and the house and garden were very child friendly. We were looked after very well and the locals were friendly especially Pat in the post office who brought freshly baked scones to our door. Mary made sure we had enough of everything and even called during the week to see if we were enjoying our stay. We loved the original decor of the house, It is an ideal quiet location for a relaxing break with views of the sea. It was close to beaches for collecting seashells and Kilkee with its cliff views and Loophead lighthouse. There is also a local fish shop where you can buy fish caught fresh earlier in the day. The Long Dock Pub with its wonderful food and welcome is also worth a visit. We hope to return again next year."
"We loved staying at Bidsie Brickes. The house is perfect for a relaxing family break and we will be back next year. The owner laid on everything that we could have needed for our stay and even sent a newspaper cutting of local walks to the house addressed to me - really thoughtful. Carrigaholt is lovely and friendly and is in a perfect spot for exploring the west of Ireland without being overrun by holidaymakers and screaming kids. We managed to watch dolphins swimming about by the castle, took part in the tractor run and enjoyed each of the 4 pubs in the village."
