Reviews
"Though superficially clean, the house soon showed itself to be dirty, e.g. under the beds, in the corners and door frames; dead flies in window areas and curtains. Cobwebs around windows, in curtains, inside many of the spiral cupboard handles and behind all the radiators. Numerous large living spiders. The heat-level numbers and function indicators on the oven and hob were worn away and illegible (no handbook available). No folder containing general information about the house facilities (e.g. how to regulate the heating) and local services (e.g. doctor, supermarket, restaurants, shopping, vet, etc.). Such a folder is standard in almost all holiday cottages we've used. The house provided a cot and highchair for our 24-month-old child, but no stair gates, even though we requested them. The owners permitted dogs (good) but the fence around the property was not adequate to keep a small dog inside. There were no footpaths or fields in the vicinity where we could walk the dogs; this cannot be changed, but should have been mentioned in the description. We would not have taken the house if we had known this. On the positive side, there was a thoughtful provision of milk, toilet paper, kitchen roll, dishwasher tabs, shower gel as well as a homemade cake to greet us. The supply of children's toys was excellent."
"We're going home tomorrow after a great week spent at this lovely property. It is in a great location for exploring the Northumberland coast. The house is very big with a lovely lawn round it which is mowed during the night by the "Robbie" the robot lawnmower very amusing. It was clean & well furnished with a huge master bedroom & walk in shower. The owner also left us a lovely homemade cake which was delicious, the only thing I wasn't keen on was the wind farm behind the house, only because I have a irrational fear of the turbines & even after a week I'm still not keen! But apart from that it was fabulous."
"This is a great place to stay! Very nice cottage for families or a group. Spacious, well appointed, cozy and comfortable. Nice garden area and very quiet. We had a great time here, and it's close to Alnwick, Alnmouth, and the coastal towns. The lovely owner left us a delicious chocolate cake to welcome us... Very convenient and would love to come back..."
"Just stayed 3 nights in this delightful cottage. Clean, spacious and comfortable. Views are wonderful. Location is really good for seeing the surrounding areas. Would recommend to anyone who wants a quiet holiday in lovely countryside. Would definitely come again - especially for the cake, lovely touch."
"We arrived late on Friday night and were greeted with a note informing us that there was some ice cream and a chocolate pudding waiting for us! Perfect. The cottage was immaculately clean and larger than it appears in the photos. All bedrooms had a bathroom either attached or nearby. One bathroom was suitable for disabled guests. Our children loved sleeping in the attic room. The only slight negative was that the cottage was chilly when we arrived but it warmed through once the heating was on for a while. We were particularly impressed with the free Wi-Fi. Fresh eggs were available at a local farm - if we so wished to purchase them. We visited Alnwick and Seahouses (close by) today and plan to go to Bamburgh Castle and beach tomorrow. A beautiful part of the world and we would visit and stay here again. Thank you. "
