Sandbach is a large historic market town in Cheshire and dating back to Saxon times with its famous Saxon Crosses still visible in the cobbled square. The town offers plenty of interesting shops with many pubs and restaurants to visit. The Brereton Heath Nature Reserve is a place to visit with some lovely walks and some interesting wood sculptures to observe. Also there is Wheelock Hall Farm and for something a little different you can visit St Mary's Church, a Grade II listed building with some beautiful stained glass windows as well as the church yard which is a magical place to explore.
Reviews
"Stayed here during half term, the accommodation is exactly as described. There was a nice bottle of red wine & cookies as a welcome gift & also milk, tea coffee, sugar etc to start you off. Peter & Anthea were very friendly & helpful, Anthea also took our Grandaughter & showed Her around the Holding & let Her feed some of the animals, especially the Llamas which She loved. Thank you."
"A lovely little gem of a place with just enough space for two. The cottage is well designed and well equipped - the pictures show it well. It is beside the owner's house on a smallholding with lamas, chickens, ducks, geese and a friendly cat. The animals were lovely to watch and we got used to the cockerels crowing just before dawn! It was very warm when we stayed and the outside space was appreciated to sit for breakfast. The dormer windows upstairs let the heat out and kept the place feeling airy. I would love to visit at a cooler time of year to try out the wood burning stove. The only slight downside was being on the main road (A50): hearing traffic, which got quite busy in rush hour and you do need to be very careful in the car pulling out on to the road. There is plenty of room to park one car, and would be enough for two. We found lots to do in the area - exploring the Peak District, Chester and Liverpool. Recommended."
"Just spent 4 days here...what a beautiful little place...loved everything about it..so comfortable and warm..under floor heating..log burner..the attention to detail was amazing..highly recommended "
"Clean, quiet, self contained, warm and cozy. On a busy road but I never noticed the traffic noise. Hosts Peter and Anthea were wonderful - unobtrusive but available if needed. The wood fire/stove was a little bit cantankerous, but once working it kept the property snuggly and warm on a couple of nights where the temperature plummeted to well below freezing. An added bonus is that the bathroom has a full bath tub - most self catering properties of this size only have a shower. The ducks, geese and chickens are all friendly and chatty, and there are also 5 llamas to get up close and personal with (a first for me). I would thoroughly recommend this property and will definitely be staying here on my next trip (hopefully they will have a vacancy!)."
"Booked for half term week. We always think what to do in February ? Simple answer enjoy where you are staying and Relax ! The accommodation is great, the owners friendly and very thoughtful providing what you need and more, nice pubs and easy canal walks close by means you can really unwind. Mind you also a great base to visit Chester, Buxton, Bakewell and Manchester. Many thanks J and Alex"
