Reviews
"My daughter and boyfriend stayed here as the family were in the area celebrating my birthday. They were made to feel very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Superb accommodation and would recommend"
"Booked from Australia for 13 nights. Rang Sykes from Australia and was told how lovely they were. Booking was for 13 nights. When we arrived from Australia we were disappointed that there was no washing machine as property was described as luxurious and convenient. Asked owner the night we arrived if we could halve the booking as we presumed fully fitted kitchen would include washing machine. I had emailed Mr. Pugh, the owner from Australia stating we were coming for 13 nights and at no stage did he think to mention there no washing machine. Sykes said we could do a round trip of forty minutes driving plus washing time and drive to Ross on Wye to do our laundry. We decided to leave three nights earlier as it was eating into our holiday time. Asked for a refund and was told no. Both Sykes and Mr Pugh are blaming us. We do not think this is how things should be done especially when we are from another country. Fully fitted kitchen to us means washing machine. Every house we have Been in uk seems to have one in the kitchen, Felt totally bullied next day when I had gone into the pub to buy a sandwich for lunch when Mr Pugh approached me and started raising his voice and arguing with me in front of the patrons in the pub at lunch time. I did not order as I felt very humiliated by him. So we booked other accommodation which did have a washing machine and we had more time to enjoy our holiday. I still will be taking this matter further with claims tribunal when we return to Australia. . Wonder if Sykes posted my review as if more people reviews could let others know what to expect or not to expect they could make a better decision. It is not right that only glowing reviews are published."
"It was stated quite firmly that this is an adult only site. On enquiring, it was ok for our 16 year old Grandson to come with us and stay to help us set up camp and the 5 year old could visit - I emphasised that he was well behaved. The site was very quiet but the lodge was very well furnished and lots of nice touches with some food and storecupboard ingredients were there. I even taught my 16 yr old grandson to play chess with the board there - and we had free wifi... The Owners were very helpful. I find the comments regarding the Pub annoying. The Landlord/owner is not anti children, indeed, we met his Grandchildren who were very well behaved and friendly. I am in a wheelchair/scooter and not ideal for me to get about but I was aware of that before we went. (I am not one of those who feel I need 100% access to everything). The patio area was a sun trap and there were plenty of places to get to in the car. Feel it would be great if you like walking. Plenty of farm shops nearby. Our Family stayed nearby and we met up in the Forest of Dean and many local beauty spots. We will be back."
"We stayed at ash lodge for three nights and wished we had booked just a bit longer. The accommodation is excellent, contemporary, very airy and spacious with a well equipped kitchen, en suite shower room and further bathroom. The provision of a welcome pack with breakfast essentials was a nice touch, as were the fresh flowers and fruit. The location is on the outskirts of the Forest of Dean, a few miles from Ross on wye, and whilst out in the sticks, with the pub a mere 200m walk away a local meal out was an easy option. Despite being close to the pub, the location was very peaceful. The owners are very helpful and have really put together a very high standard of accommodation. The towels were huge, soft, fluffy and plentiful and the wifi exceptionally good, a pre-requisite in our family with two teenagers. I would not hesitate to recommend glasshouse lodges, they are identically kitted out and decorated so there is little to choose between the three other than top, middle and bottom. Note: children are accepted over 14 years of age only, if yours are borderline contact them directly to discuss."
