Reviews
"Just returned from a weekend with the family staying in the lovely Milk House which exceeded expectations, everything available in the accommodation you could possibly want. Lovely welcome basket with the usual essentials ie tea, coffee etc, plus a bottle of wine! Plenty of space for 8 adults, comfortable beds and furniture. Easy walk into village with the black rocks over the hill. Parking can be limited but we had 4 cars between us and had no problems. Outside space adequate for 2 dogs and perfect sun spot for sitting outside to enjoy the views. Plenty of beautiful walks nearby. Will definitely return. Thank you so much to hosts Hannah and Johnathon."
"Lovely holiday here with three generations and dog staying. Very well equipped cottage in beautiful surroundings. A real bonus was the open gardens whist we were staying, which showcased the lovely gardens in the cottages round our rental house. Cottage is very well equipped, and the welcome basket of goodies was a lovely touch. Thank you"
"Just back from a weekend with all the family. Cottage is very homely and equipped with everything you need. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely basket of goodies to welcome us. There is a great view from the garden area and it well placed for visiting the Peak District. The cottage is kept to a high standard with plenty of room for 8 people. No problem with parking. Would love to return. "
"The Milkhouse in wirksworth is fantastic! Lovely cottage suitable for adults and children of all ages. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you'll need. Has books and games for children too. Our children love it here. We have been before 2 years ago and will continue to visit in years to come. Highly recommend. "
"Really lovely cottage, could not fault a single thing! Really well equipped and extremely clean. The bedrooms were really spacious and beds comfortable with quality bed linen and pillows. Kitchen was equipped with quality appliances and all the pots, pans and gadgets you could possibly need. We never had any problems getting parking spaces, we came with 2 cars. Plenty of walks from the cottage door, very pleasant walk into Wirksworth, found a great little micro brewery, The Feather Star, well worth a visit, or two! Hannah was very helpful and friendly, hope to visit again soon."
"Lovely, clean, warm, spacious (but cosy) cottage. Really nice owners who were there to help when needed but left us alone otherwise. Lovely welcome with a food hamper, and fresh daffodils! Really well equipped. They'd really thought of everything to make the stay comfortable and easy. Good location for exploring local area - and an easy footpath direct to to Wirksworth from cottage, 15-20 min walk. Recommend both the Royal Oak and the Ale House in Wirksworth, and the Northern Light cinema is great (book in advance - tapas looked lovely too). Would definitely recommend the milk house and we've booked to stay there again next year. Only thing I would say is that you can hear a lot from other parts of the house as the floors are essentially just floorboards (but that was probably more to do with us having two noisy young boys!) so might be worth taking ear plugs if you are sharing with others/children!"
"We were a party of 8. 4 adults and 4 children. Firstly, the Milk house was spotless and finished to a high standard. The property is stocked with everything you'll need. The property is split over three levels and is really good for two families with a twin and double bedroom on each accommodation floor with their own bathrooms. A very thoughtful basket of goodies in the kitchen to welcome us when we arrived too. Just a stones throw from Carsington Water, Matlock and Dovedale National nature reserve. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back."
"The Milk House in Bolehill, Wirksworth is a charming cottage providing comfortable and pleasant accommodation. It's the second time we've stayed here and we would happily stay again. The kitchen, bathrooms, large sitting room and 4 bedrooms have all been kept in good condition. The decking area is well kept and gives off lovely views of the hills. Each time, on arrival there has been complimentary white and red wine, biscuits, coffee and tea left for us which is a nice touch. There is free parking (8 spaces) 20 yards from the property. All in all I would stay here again and would recommend the location for visits to Bakewell, Chatsworth, Peak District Park and Matlock. "
"Arrived at the cottage on the Friday, and was welcomed with a lovely hamper with most things needed until supplies were brought, which included a bottle of white and red! The kitchen was well equipped and well stocked with kitchen essentials. The living room was well appointed, and comfortable with a wood stove log burner, we didn't use as we were fortunate with the weather. The views from the living room were fantastic with a small BBQ and seating area outside. The bedrooms are on a split level, each level sharing and a bathroom and separate toilet. The rooms again were well appointed with good quality furnishing and fixtures, and the bedroom located on the first floor the double which I stayed in was th bed was so comfortable. The cottage sits in the village of Boleshill with great walks, the nearest towns are Wirksworth and Cromford,. PUblic transport we found to be good and reliable, if you want a taxi these are a little more difficult, however we persevered and managed to get one for our night out to the Market Restaurant in Cromford. This is an excellent location for exploring Derbyshire with Carsingron Water and Matlock on the doorstep. Excellent"
"Stayed for a long weekend with 2 families, 4 adults & 4 kid's, each family had their own floor which consisted of 2 bedrooms & bathroom each & we were able to meet in the middle where the kitchen & lounge were. Lovely place with great decor, solid wood everywhere, great log burner & lovely views. Very well equipped & layed out holiday let, we only wish we could have stayed for longer. Would definitely recommend & would return again. "
"We have just returned home from a 3-night break at the Milk House, for an extended family including Grandma and two teenage grandsons, all of whom were truly impressed by this lovely cottage. Not only is it in a fabulous location, a stone's throw from Black Rocks, and with stunning views of Wirksworth, but it is also extremely well-equipped, with four large double rooms, a spacious lounge and country kitchen/diner, lots of games and good wi-fi. Wooden floors, beams and fittings add to the house's charm. We received a warm welcome from our host, and felt truly at home, thanks to lots of small, personal touches. We will definitely pay the Milk House a return visit!"
