Set amidst the rolling hills of the South Shropshire countryside, the village of Cardington boasts the oldest pub in Shropshire - The Royal Oak - which is mentioned in the Domesday Book. Its rural location makes a wonderful base whilst sightseeing and the village provides miles of country paths in all directions through the beautiful Shropshire hills, making this an excellent spot for cyclists and walkers. There is a wide variety of birdlife - including buzzards, woodpeckers and ravens, as well as the Acton Scott Historic Working Farm, Severn Valley Steam Railway, Stokesay Castle, Shrewsbury, Ludlow and the Ironbridge Gorge – boasting as many as 10 museums. The attractive market towns of Church Stretton - known as 'Little Switzerland' by the Victorians - and Much Wenlock are both within easy driving distance and offer a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.
Reviews
"We had a fantastic weekend at The Olde Cow House to celebrate my 40th birthday with family The house was lovely, clean and very comfortable. The location is beautiful and the children enjoyed the animals and walk in the countryside. We had a lovely time in the swimming pool and games room. There was lots to do in the surrounding area. Thanks again!"
"Stayed here for a week towards the end of february this year. The property itself was amazing, so much character, and really well equipped, it has everything you need for a stay. Swimming pool was really good, and there's plenty of other activities for the kids, such as go-karts, tennis, and exploring the farm. The location is excellent; rural enough to be very peaceful, yet within easy access of Shropshires many attractions, making this property a perfect base to explore the local area."
"We stayed here for a long weekend with family members to celebrate our daughter's 30th birthday. The barn is absolutely beautiful and the surrounding countryside is also breathtaking. The owner is nice and very helpful. The swimming pool was fun and also the go-carts. Loved feeding the pigs and ponies. Would return and recommend to others."
"We have been here ywice and wil return. It ticks all the boxes for a family get together, 4 bedroomms all with facs. Tennis court, pedel bikes for kids, animals to see and feed, a boating lake and walks in the farm and woods, attractions nearby . Swimming pool as an extra was superb. Great property. Nice owmners"
"It was a lovely retreat for a couple of days (for my 50th). Lots of space, lots to do, wonderful countryside. Swimming pool was niche... and nice... (costs extra, but understandable and justified). Owners were very accommodating and helpful. Highly recommended."
"A great location in the Shrophsire countryside. Great for families. There were go karts, lots of outdoor areas to play on site and The Olde Cow House was a lovely house. The kitchen was very well equipped, there were childrens toys and books etc. Very homely. A great house. There was a swimming pool which you paid for separately on site. It's a little expensive for what it is and you are only allowed 2 hours in the pool - this is a strict 2 hours so be sure not to overstay. This was my only complaint actually as we were ushered out in a very unrelaxed way to allow members in. We had to be out by 5pm and members are allowed in from 5pm. It would be way better to have a 15 minute pause inbetween as a changeover time as it did taint our visit to the pool a little. Aside from that it was a very enjoyable stay and i would highly recommend it."
"We have stayed here two years in a row, and plan to stay again. The buildings are just gorgeous. Sarah and her family are wonderful, they can't do enough for you. The cottages are all very beautiful, and it is difficult to choose between them. It's very much a family place and caters for grand children and grand parents alike. You can take toddlers for short walks to see horses, chickens, and pigs. Older children have the games area which is suitable for every age,(including adults). Nature lovers can go for long walks in the surrounding countryside, and grandparents can sit on the patio drinking tea and watching all the activities. We have only stayed during the winter; it must be a wonderful place in the summer when you can take picnics and sit by the lake or play a game of rounders in the fields."
"This is a gorgeous cottage that exceeded our expectations! Plenty of room and everything thought of and provided for - just amazing. Lots to do on the farm and the family could not be more friendly or helpful."
"All our expectations were met with abundance.Plenty of space and amenities for all ages. Easy access to Ironbridge and other local interesting places"
