"We totally enjoyed our experience at the lodge. Mrs Gray is very welcoming and had provided breakfast provision in the fridge. The lodge layout is well designed and equiped. We visited the little shops and post office - only down the road. Later we went on to see Melford Hall, which has a connection to Beatrix Potter, but is a lovely property in its own right. We spent a day at Clacton-on-Sea and were surprised how much we loved it - the best vegetarian breakfast (icluded bubble & squeak) was found at one of the cafes along the front. The people were very friendly. Thanks for a great holiday!"

"The weather was fantastic in May and the Cartlodge provided a wonderful relaxing base for our holiday, we had our own private area for sitting out, with a BBQ and we had the use of the owners pool. Inside we had all the kitchen equipment you could ever want, a most comfortable bed and a great shower room. The village had all the shops for our food, but the local pub, the anchor, was so good, in it's setting by the river Stour, that we frequented it for a long Sunday lunch and a couple of evening meals too. A wonderful property in the most beautiful village in the Stour Valley; with the most picturesque villages, historic churches, seasides and river estuaries. Interesting olde worlde towns and cities dating back to the Romans. Our hosts made us feel very at home and the welcome pack lasted us nearly all week! On our departure Miriam presented us with a jar of honey from her own bees. Delicious! We would love to return in summer or winter."
