"Just back from a week in Conifers cottage as a family including my 90-year-old mother and the dog. The cottage is as described. It is spacious but cosy. The curtains, sofas, bedding are all new and very tasteful. However, the kitchen and bathroom are very dated and we are told they will be replaced before next season. We fell in love with the peacocks who came to visit every day. We didn't find the noise of the birds to be an issue. In fact, I quite enjoyed hearing them. The gardens and woodland are quirky and interesting. Paul, the owner, gave us a very friendly greeting, was very interesting to talk to and we enjoyed hearing the history of the place. Paul has had the hall for six months although he grew up there. He has a huge amount of work on his hands to bring the grounds up to the standard he desires. I would love to return in the spring time to see the gardens in bloom. Just a note, at the moment I would not recommend this cottage for someone with limited mobility due to the step up to the shower and the sunken bath. Otherwise, a great location if you don't mind driving to town on the beach and you want to get away from it all."

"Stayed in bothy cottage a charming cottage very clean and cosy just what I was looking for . It was well equipped with everything you could need for a home from home .T he ground it was set in are a delight to walk round and so peaceful all you could here was the sound of birds and the sound of the river running by which all helped to make our stay there so relaxing .The owners are very friendly and helpful and thier daughter is obviously following in thier foot steps .Gabriel who works there is also very friendly and helpful .The quackery is lovely to wonder round with some quirky and interesting things to see ( won't say anymore as it would spoil it for those who haven't been before ) .Having visited this area many times before I would highly recommend talhenbont hall cottages to stay at to explore the area as it is within easy reach of many of the top spots to see. Loved it here so much can't wait to return ."

"The cottage is situated in a shady spot within the grounds and near the bird sanctuary and play area. Mr Good was friendly and helpful. A car is essential and the area has a great many attractions for all age groups within an easy drive. A selection of leaflets about things of interest were only found at the end of the stay as they were tucked on a shelf under the TV. This should be more prominent. The cottage was cooler than outside temperatures so take jumpers if you want to avoid high electricity bills. The furnishings and bed linen were OK but dated and towels were not included but we were informed of this. It was difficult to regulate the temperature of the shower in the utility room and this room would be improved by having a warm towel rail to dry towels and hooks to hang up clothing. The kitchen was well equipped and clean and had a good supply of portmerion pottery. We enjoyed our stay but it wasn't as comfortable as previous rented cottages."

"The cottage itself was excellent. Everything required for a week's stay was there. We were sorry there was no visitor's book, as these are helpful for local visits and eating places. The estate itself is very, very weary. The grounds near the cottage were not as described, ie, the water gardens. They were a mess. I felt sorry for the water birds. I could cheerfully have disposed of the 4 peacocks, they made their usual noises day and early morning, and insisted on messing on the door step. I was glad we had no grandchildren with us, the cottage carpets would have needed a good clean due to the mess everywhere. On the approach roads there were signs for the public to come to the gardens and we were told these had been shut for quite some years, so why are the signs still in evidence?"

"I stayed at Conifers Cottage in June with my husband and elderly mother. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everthing necessary for a comfortable stay including hot water bottles for cold nights!! Situated in the water gardens of ther Plas Talhenbont estate, we enjoyed the company of assorted wildlife - ducks, geese, peacocks, chickens whenever we wished it. the grounds were well presented with a magical air coupled with a fine sense of humour in and around the woodland. There was something of interest for all ages. We would happily return here for a further stay."

"We enjoyed the service from Sykes Holidays and Mr Good at the Hall was very helpful and friendly. The cottage was excellent, nicely furnished and well planned for a relaxing holiday. The position and immediate surroundings were probably more suitable for a family holiday, rather that for an older couple and dog. The estate would be exciting for older children. There were no local ammenities and it was quite a distance from the main road."
