Reviews
"Cosily warm; very well-equipped; extremely warm welcome from owner. I wanted a week out in peace and quiet and very much enjoyed the week. Especially appreciated walking in the countryside without needing to use a car, and the very thoughtful information about walking routes which Sue had organised in the cottage - photocopies of maps with routes already highlighted. Brilliant! There's a small vending machine in the pub across the road where you can but basics like bread and milk 24/7."
"Lovely cottage and great location for exploring the Peak District, the landlady was lovely and friendly, however the neighbours in the attached cottage were very unfriendly and rude as were the landlords in the two local pubs.also no phone reception or wi-fi - would recommend though."
"Thisis a delightful cottage in a beautiful little village. It was a perfect base to visit Dovedale, Bakewell, Tissington, Matlock etc. There is a breathtaking walkfromthe back of the cottage to Carsington Water. Upon our arrival there was milk, tea, coffee and even some biscuits which were most welcome after our journey. The cottage was spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend."
"We had a lovely weekend in Brassington, nice walks and a picturesque village - great little cottage, very compact but with everything we needed. Our weather wasn't always great but we had a good afternoon curled up with cake, hot chocolate and a few DVDs and played chess in the pub in the evening."
"We stayed for a week and the owners were very helpful but sufficiently hands off, so we didn't see them all the time, but they were there when we needed them. Ideally located in a beautiful little village with good road connections. Walks available right from the door (it's a nice walk to Carsington). Kitchen was very well equipped and quite spacious, we took things we didn't really need. Bathroom was also quite big- shower was very roomy. Bed was comfy (always a plus) and there were plenty of DVDs and videos to keep us occupied in the evening after a visit to one of the local pubs. Lots of things to do and see in the local area; some cheap, some pricey (something for everyone). A lovely romantic getaway and would recommend to family and friends."
"We enjoyed our stay in Rambler's rest. The property is comfortable and manages to be both compact and spacious with a beautiful view across the hillside. The village has many walks and two excellent pubs serving good food, which makes the property particularly suitable for short breaks."
"This cottage wasn't big but it was charming, had everything you needed, lovely views and was clean and well decorated. The owner was very friendly and helpful. An ideal base for exploring the peak district and excellent value. The village itself has a pub called the Gates which does excellent food at reasonable prices too. Have already recommended it to parents and friends!"
