"We stayed here for 7 days with a toddler and a 6 month old. The cottage is nicely presented and fully equipped. We were only out for a few hours at a time due to having a baby and found the cottage a great place to relax. It's in a perfect location for visiting the many attractions of North Yorkshire and we made plenty of trips to Whitby, Scarborough and Pickering. The hot tub was fantastic and I would highly recommend the farm shop across the road to buy all the ingredients for a full English. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners who were always available if needed but never intrusive. Would highly recommend to all."

"What a great find this cottage was. The location is ideal for exploring the area. The cottage itself is wonderful with a large open plan kitchen/dining/living space and two lovely bedrooms with a snug doubling as a third bedroom. There is the added bonus of a hot tub which is a great way to relax after a day out exploring. The owners were extremely helpful and welcoming as was the milk and wine they had in the fridge on arrival. We were all sad to have to leave but will certainly return in the future."

"Our 5th stay in this gorgeous cottage and we had a fabulous family holiday. The cottage is located between Malton and Pickering so is perfectly placed for days out to Scarborough, Whitby, York, Bridlington....I could go on.... Having stayed before we knew exactly what to expect and as usual the cottage was immaculately clean and well equipped, particularly the kitchen which has plenty of baking trays, pans etc. The first thing we did when we got there was make a nice cuppa as the owners Mick and Sandra had kindly provided milk, teabags and sugar. Then we went outside to enjoy the lovely views from the garden, there were horses in the field out the back and rabbits hopping around, it's such a peaceful place to be. The cottage is a lovely place to stay and is well maintained both inside and out. The bedrooms are a good size, the bathroom had a large walk in shower and the downstairs is open plan so is very light and airy. Outside in the outbuilding there is even a washing machine with a washing line and pegs provided to dry clothes/swimwear. I had half my washing done before we'd arrived home! The highlight for us has and will always be the HOT TUB! We love it. Perfect end to every day, time to relax once the kids are in bed and we love to watch the stars with a glass of wine. The hot tub was nice and warm on arrival and had just been cleaned out, plenty of towels were provided for use (as well as towels provided for use after the shower). On our second day here the owner Mick and his daughter brought the horses up to the fence so our boys could stroke them and feed them apples and other than seeing the horses being taken in and out you would just think you were there alone. Although the owners house is directly attached you never feel overlooked. When you do happen to see Mick or Sandra they are very helpful with ideas for days out and are lovely friendly people. We've been coming here since our oldest son was a year old and we now have three children who thoroughly enjoy our family holidays here. If you're looking for a self catering holiday that's in a great location for days out and want somewhere spacious, clean and comfortable then this is perfect. We will hopefully be back next year as usual!"

"We've just returned from a week away and we were gutted we had to leave. The cottage was everything & more we could have wanted. The 3 bed open cottage, is spacious, clean & attention to detail decor. The hot tube was a major plus, we all enjoyed it. The seating area, over looked a field with 3 horses & regular visits from rabbits. The cottage is over the road to a great little farm shop & cafe with its own range of animals. We are definitely returning & we were gutted we had to leave. A few tips for anyone visiting soon, take dvds for the kids, your own tin opener & the main bedroom is very light in the morning. The snug down stairs is ideal for the kids, luckily we took dvds & extra toys for my 4 yr old & the 11 yr old was happy it had wifi. Thanks to Mick for renting the cottage to us "

"I absolutely loved staying here. Where do i start??? The house is furnished beautifully and everything you could possibly need is here. There is a hot tub to relax in and games provided for the kids to play with. One of the bedrooms is downstairs and doubles as a playroom with a seperate TV and DVD. Perfect for our daughter to have some time for herself when she wanted. Towels were provided for both showering and Hot Tub use (i.e two sets) and the owners welcomed us with Tea, Coffee, and couple of pints of Milk and a bottle of Wine. The house is attached to the owners property but you really dont know they are there etc and the cottage simply feels like a home away from home. There are Horses in the back fields and on the odd day the owners let the horses up closer to the house for our daughter so see / feed them. I cannot recommend this cottage enough!!! None of us wanted to leave on the last day!!!!"

"This was our first visit to Grove Cottage. And going on our first impression when we arrived, we were already mentally booking the next visit. Grove Cottage is a fantastic base to start any day. With so much stuff on your doorstep, a week is never enough. We visited the National Railway Museum, North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Eden Camp, Whitby, Scarborough, Bridlington, York Castle Museum, Helmsley Castle, Rievaulx Abbey, Pickering and popped in to Hutton-le-Hole during our stay. We were never more than an hour from anything. The cottage itself is beautiful. Even though it's attached to the owner's own property, you never get the impression that you're being watched over. In fact, most of the time we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere on our own. Which was great, because it made it peaceful and relaxing. The layout of the property is great too. With a through plan downstairs consisting of lounge, kitchen and diner in one large room, with a large play room/snug off to the side. This was equally brilliant, as it meant we could shut our 5 year old in there with her toys and a DVD and not hear a peep from here for hours. Upstairs is much the same, with a bedroom either end and the large bathroom between. Large walk in shower, and a fantastic view from the window when you're having a shave in the morning. There are of course a couple of things that stand out with this property. There is the added bonus of an amazing hot tub, which we used every night (bar one due to bad weather). The second; the owners have 5 horses at the bottom of the garden, which leads on to their own paddock. 3 shires and 2 shetlands. We did venture down to say hello to them all, and the owner let us have some carrots to feed them. The shetlands stay a little closer to the house during the day in a fenced off section of the paddock, whereas the shires have the run of the field. We did however leave the house one day to find the shetlands running around in the owner's garden. They are very friendly. This house is great for families of any age. We have a youngster and she loved it. We will definitely be back again."

"We spent an idyllic week at Grove Cottage in June 2014. It is a great base from which to explore - we took in Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Scarborough, Helmsley, Castle Howard, Light Water Valley and cycling in Dalby Forest. There are so many picture perfect villages in the area that we loved driving from place to place, taking it all in. We found Grove Cottage to be immaculately presented, well equipped and comfortable. The hosts were friendly and informative and the welcoming milk and wine were most appreciated. The open plan layout downstairs works well and includes a large tv. We took full advantage of the hot tub, enjoying both the sun shine and then the starry skies - a fabulous way to relax. We didn't want to leave - would heartily recommend."

"From the minute we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. The owners were very helpful, and approachable. The accommodation was fantastic a real home from home. The hot tub was a fabulous bonus. The surrounding area was rural and very peaceful. It is also within reasonable reach of the coast, Scarborough and Whitby. The cottage had plenty of info regarding things to do which was great. The bottle of wine was a nice touch too on arrival. Nothing to dislike really. Had a lovely time :-)"

"A brilliant cottage all round - the hosts were wonderful, they made us feel so at home (wine in the fridge) and were there for anything we needed. The cottage was gorgeous - I wish our house was like that! Beautifully decorated, very contemporary, all the cooking utensils you could ask for and absolutely spotless - no dust whatsoever! And the hot tub is just amazing and could easily fit 5-6 people - its was February and 5 degrees c outside but we were so cosy in it stargazing at midnight - very romantic! Location is great - both York and Whitby are a very reasonable distance and the moors are great for rambling. Will definitely stay again and probably bring a second couple to join us, the cottage was so spacious! B & S x"

"Stopped here over a cold half term in February and cannot wait to visit again. The cottage is attached to the owners house , who are very helpful and welcoming. The kitchen , lounge, dinner were all very modern, clean and full of equipment. The room downstairs had a day bed, TV and DVD, ideal to shut the kids away in !!!. The lounge had a large TV and lots of space. The bedrooms were both spacious, modern and relaxing, my kids want us to have out shower room converted the the lovely one here. The hot tub was huge, always warm and perfect for star or even space station gazing. The owner left loads of towels and we managed to do all our washing as well before we left . The horses at the back were friendly . Ideal for Pickering, Scarborough or Whitby, Will visit again as soon as we have some spare time. Thank you"

"This is an immaculate cottage with the super addition of a modern hot tub on the patio. The cottage is an extension of the owners property but you would hardly notice as they leave you to enjoy your holiday. A lovely touch on arrival is a bottle of chilled wine and tea/coffee. The cottage has two good sized bedrooms upstairs which sleep 4 and downstairs a smaller room with a bed/sofa which would sleep another adult or child. The bathroom is modern and very clean with a large shower, towels are provided for the bathroom and the hot tub too. Downstairs is a smart kitchen with dining area and the living space with a flat screen TV on the wall - DVD player available too if you want it. There is a fridge (no freezer) and a washing machine in the outhouse area. The interior of this cottage is excellent with modern fittings and immaculately presented. The hot tub outside is easy to use and a superb addition - it gives this cottage the edge over others we viewed and was the key reason we booked - we were not disappointed, it was easy to use and we were in it every night. The location of the cottage is ideal for exploring North Yorkshire and its coast - be careful as you approach as you may miss the turning. Basically hit the road to Pickering from the A64 and turn left when you see the Whole Hog farm shop and cafe. Overall I would recommend this cottage to anyone - unless you are looking for lots of outdoor space - there isn't really any but you can gaze upon the owners horses in the next field as you sit in the hot tub so I don't think that matters."

"Just back from a lovely stay at this property. Its exactly as described, squeeky clean and with some very nice touches such as a large walk in shower, and a good flat screen TV. The big attraction is of course the hot tub which was bigger than we expected, always ready to use and enjoyable at all times of day/ evening . A joy to watch the stars - plasic 'glass' in hand. You do need to camber up 3 steps and over to get in - not always the most elegant manouver and a person with mobility issues might have a problem. The owners provide pool towels as well as fabulous bathroom towels so that was a bonus. The house itself is comfortable although I think that 5 adults in the living area might be a bit of a squeeze. The teenager used the downstairs bedroom and while she found it ok, there are no blinds on the skylight windows so it was pretty light in the mornings. No wardrobe in this room, so its really more of an extra than a proper single room although the property description is fair about this - its more of a place for 4+ adults. The kitchen area is pleasantly furnished - we noticed a few things missing such as a working tin opener, a bread knife and being real coffee addicts , a caffitiere ! This is only a small 'complaint' the overall standard of furnishings etc is high. We didnt use them but there is a good standard of eqipment for babies/young children provided The property is next to the owners' and we didnt see much of them. They have several pets and we loved seeing the dogs, cats and ponies about the place. The property is pretty near the main road - you can see cars from upstairs and you notice traffic sounds outside/ if the windows are open. For us it did not spoil the overall experience. The property is rural , well situated for touring, but if you are looking for pretty hills and walking from your doorstep its possibly not the best choice. Eden Camp (recommended) is just down the road - as is Flamingoland if that is your thing. Both Pickering and Malton are 10 minutes away by car. The farm shop over the road has good butchery/ bread. We always find Sykes efficient"

"the cottage is very comfortable. We were three adults and one child (our grandson) He used the small snug and though it was fantastic. The hot tub was an added bonus. The cottage is very difficult to find and the lane is very small and coming from a town, assumed it was a driveway. The SatNav soon put us right, with it "turn a round where possible""

"Great accomodation, friendly welcome and the hot tube was a big hit with the family. Well appointed and nicely presented self catering cottage. Although the owners house is adjoining there were no issues with privacy - nice rural setting. Laundry facilities provided so great for families. Malton only 7 miles away so easy access to supermarket and local shops. Location's great as it's handy for York, the coast, Dalby Forrest and North Yorkshires Moors - wish we'd had more time to explore as we found that there was just so much to do. Highlights of the week were: hiring mountain bikes in Dalby Forrest, and sightseeing in York Only slight down side was that there was no blind on the velux window in the downstairs (3rd) bedroom. So it was just as well that our son gets up at the crack of dawn anyway. Would thoroughly recommend this cottage as it was also great value for money."

"We have recently moved to the area after spending 6yrs in australia and had a very warm welcome from Mick, Sandra and family. It exceeded our expectations and the website photos don't do the place justice. It was amazing and the family gave us lots of advise on the area. The accommodation was one of the best we have stayed in and want more people to go and enjoy the hard work that the family have done in making a wonderful holiday getaway. The hot-tub was a huge bonus and our little Charlie loved the big bath."
