Reviews
"Just back from spending Monday-Friday in this lovely house. The house itself was immaculate. Good quality. Well equipped kitchen but we never used as ate out all the time. The outside was equally good with the decking. Would definitely stay again. Great for dogs aswell"
"This is the nicest cottage I have ever spent a holiday in. The owners have obviously put a lot of thought and care into making it a comfortable and homely place to stay. It is spotlessly clean, has all the modern conveniences, lovely furniture and a beautiful patio garden to relax in. The location is close to town and yet in a peaceful setting with a beautiful view. Grange itself is a picturesque little town with a long promenade and lovely gardens. It has a bakery making sumptuous bread and cakes which opens early for those eager to start the day with fresh bread. I would definately return and recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a relaxing stay in the Lake District."
"This is the best property we have stayed. It is clean, tidy modern and everything you can think of to make your stay perfect. It is a credit to the owners? Grange itself is a small town but very friendly people are here and dogs are catered for most of the time? Would definitely come back again and a must to stay at Hillside. Thank you"
"Extremely well presented cottage. Quiet, and in good central location, though some people would find the steep hill something of a challenge. We are regular visitors to Grange, and enjoy its slightly oldfashioned charm, excellent butchers, bakery, and brass band concerts. Many places are accessible by bus or train so there is no need to use a car. Only crticism was the total absence of cleaning materials - and the elegant but rather difficult to use bathroom taps!"
"Wonderfully updated and comfortable accommodation. Taking the dog for a walk challenging with hills but loved Grange over Sands and views from Hillside were refreshing and lovely We did have mostly good weather to benefit, once the morning mists lifted. Roomy and"
"We have just returned from a weeks stay at Hillside and there is absolutely nothing to fault with this accommodation. The decor is lovely and all the furnishings are to a very high standard, my son loved the internet and if I am honest so did I. We loved that we could take our dog with us, Grange is very dog friendly and the residents were lovely when you were out walking your dog, everyone said good morning, we even found a restaurant that let us take her in with us to eat (area on one side for dog lovers) Gilpin Bridge Inn if anyone is interested, vegetable risotto is to die for!! The house was lovely and warm and everything you could possibly need is there. At some point we will return to Grange and Hillside is where we want to stay, we all came back a lot fitter than when we went, just need to keep it up now!! Do stay in this cottage you will not be disappointed."
"Pros Spotlessly clean and well prepared. Comfortable beds and every permanent thing you might need.Lake district attractions were all available.Broadband fine, tele good. Cons absolutley nothing left no cleaning, washing up, tea bags, spare loo roll etc which other cottages we've used have. Major shopping expedition needed when we arrived-inconvenient after travel from IW! A welcome pack would make this place extra special. Also we took the cottage because it is dog permitted but there is no lawn in the garden: just decking. I managed but dog wee and poo which I always clear up anyway had to be washed off the wood with purchased disenfectant. We do expect to be able to sit in the garden with the dog and deal with late night eliminations there. That is why we take cottage as against hotel with dog."
"Information and directions were easy to follow. Cottage was everything we imagined. Disappointed with local amenities at that time of year not many places open for dining and entertainment. Good walks for my dogs."
"A credit to its owner everything was clean and tidy and well laid out, grange over sands is quiet and compact place to stay, sykes the booking agents where first class and very helpful in every detail. Yes I will return to Hillside this year if possible its dog freindly our westie loved the underfloor heating thought it was great. One other recommendation would be visit Higginsons the butchers possibly the best pies I have ever eaten which I might add is a lot.To say would I recommend to anyone yes I would really enjoyed the stay shame the weather was not a bit drier but so still enjoyed it."
"Perfect location for touring the lakes, and Grange-over-Sands is a lovely place in its own right. The cottage itself is well furnished, with some very nice touches like the Bt-vision box for the TV, and the Rangemaster stove in the kitchen. It was also nice to be able to take our dog with us, and for the cottage to be clean, with no trace of previous dogs."
"Everything was as described. A modern, recently refurbished home with all the amenities we required. Fantastic views over Morcambe Bay, the only downside is the steep hill to access the property. Not ideal for a winter location which is often what we do. Could do with somewhere to hang coats, put boots when entering the property during wet weather."
