Reviews
"This cottage is a great place to stay. The cottage is very clean and Tony the owner made sure we had everything we needed. Tomintoul is ideal place to stay because you are with in each reach of unbelievable scenery and it is so quiet. We will be coming again because one week is nowhere near enough time to visit everything. The town has 2 pubs and restaurants and local shops. "
"We had a wonderful start of the year in the cottage. It is very cosy and complete. Furniture and fittings a bit outdated but everything worked well. Considering the price you pay you get a lot of comfort and facilities. There are thermostat controlled radiators in every room and there is a very nice multifuel stove, so we we're nice and warm even in the winter. Facilities very complete, including bedlinnen, towels, soap, cleaning products, wood and coal for the stove, kitchen towels, cling film, pepper & salt, and so on. Also a large fridge and freezer, a washing machine and dryer. All you need to bring yourselve is your toothbrush and shampoo. The cottage was very clean, allthough the extraction hood could benefit from some more attention. There is no wifi, but good 3G reception. The bed was allright but had a dimple in the middle and was therefore maybe at end of life we felt. Owner is living a few houses further down the road and very friendly and attentive. Some whisky and shortbread were offered for welcome, how nice is that! Tomintoul is a small but very charming village with a good pub at the Avon Hotel and a store village which sells the basic every day groceries. Very beautiful surroundings for touring, walking and of course there are some very nice whisky distilleries to visit. Nice villages to visit (and drive to) are Braemer, Ballatar and Aberlour. All in all we had a really good time and highly recommand this cottage. We certainly will be back!"
"This cottage was immaculately presented. You couldn't ask for any more. The village itself is beautiful. Great if you want to explore places such as balmoral, ballater, avimore or even further afield. The hotels etc do carry out meals for you. I would definitely recommend anyone who wants a base to explore or even just for relaxation."
"Pat and I long with Poppy our sprocker spaniel have just spent the past week in BEECH YARD COTTAGE in Tomintoul Great location lovely cottage very comfortable bed with everything you needed. Tony the owner even left a large bottle of water on the door step on the morning the water was cut off for a few hour We will defiantly spend another week or two when we next visit If you're after a really peaceful place to stay then Tomintoul and BEECH YARD COTTAGE is the place to do it."
"A lovely bungalow, pet friendly, but don't be put off if you don't have pets as it was nice and clean. Owner called in the first morning to make sure we were OK. So quiet and a reasonable price, couldn't have wanted more."
"Had a fantastic stay at this lovely property. All the amenities you require included and very friendly neighbors. Great base for us to tour around and the walks around the village well worth doing. Hope to be back again in the future. Gift on arrival well appreciated."
"Probably the friendliest place we have ever been to. The home was extremely comfortable especially the king size bed.The area was quiet with stunning views and plenty of wildlife some of which we had never seen before, and plenty of walks for our dog."
"We were very happy with the cottage and its facilities. Ideal touring base. Owner made us most welcome."
"This was a last minute booking as we wanted a base for a while whilst touring Scotland for a few weeks. This is a lovely cottage with everything you could need (please note - shower only) there is also a lovely woodburner. It is in a lovely quiet residential location within a lovely village. The owner is very friendly. We would definately stay here again should we visit this area again."
"We had a very warm scottish welcome from the owners. It is tastefully decorated and very comfrotable. though in a village it is quiet and in the middle of nowhere which was great for us."
"Spotlessly clean cottage, with excellent appliances. Pet friendly, only thing to point out is that the garden is not secure for a dog. (It would also have beeen helpful to know that there were stairs up to the front door). A very warm welcome awaited us from the landlord, with a couple of miniatures and some shortbread! The bed was very comfy and large! In spite of inclement weather it was a lovely break, with sightings of deer and lots of other animals; we would go back again, only down side - it was 14 miles from Grantown-on-Spey and 24miles from Ballater (the nearest shoppping centres)."
"What a lovely cottage warm and cosy and very well positioned down a very quiet lane with a beautiful view from the front window. The owners very kindly left us a welcome gift which we really appreciated especially the whisky. The area has plenty to offer along with breathtaking scenery all around and we were lucky enough to see the olympic torch being carried through the village. We would rate this as the best cottage we have visited and we hope to visit again"
"Breath taking scenery, fantastic mountain bike trails, the cottage is an ideal place for a cosy comfortable break, I must admit the log fire was wonderful to sit in-front of in the evening, the high power shower was great and nice warm towel from the heated rails were awesome, signal for my I pad on 3G was amazing, Tony the proprietor gave us a warm welcome as well as a small gift of local shortbread and a miniature dram that went down well also he was on hand if we needed any help, I would definitely recommend this cottage to friends and family, the local people were friendly and helpful."
"I have rented quite a few places and i must say that it was by far the best, The accommodation was cosy and comfortable it had every amenity you could ever want, loved the fire had it on for 2 nights really nice touch in the lounge. We met the owner on the second day very nice and friendly man he came in and had a chat and a cup of tea, He gave me info on the best whiskey to buy. All in all a very nice holiday will definatly be coming back Graham Rickard From Cork Ireland"
"The service we received was first class, and the bungalow was comfortable and cosy especially at night with the woodburner. they were plenty of walks in the area, and a nice pub that gives excellent meals and friendly staff. We loved the area and the locals were always friendly and helpful."
"A great stay for us and our cat for over New Year. Great location for hillwalking, skiing (the Lecht is 5 minutes away) and the drive through Glenshee on the way is beautiful. Fuel for open fire and electricity included in price (not like other places), very comfy bed and couch/chairs. Kitchen has all you need and bathroom is clean. There was no wifi but a full 3G signal on moblie so if you can tether your mobile to your tablet/pc wth no issues at all. We have been to cottages twice the price and they have been NOWHERE near as good as there was literally everything you needed down to tomato sauce, HP, toilet roll, every cleaning type you could imagine! Even black bags!!! Lovely neighbours and even though parking is on the street the only cars passing are the neighbours and that was few and far between. great shops as well and the Fire station had a lovely rombouts coffee :)"
