Located at the foot of Buckden Pike, and close to the head of Upper Wharfedale, the idyllic village of Buckden is the perfect place to start exploring the wonderful scenery and pretty towns of this magnificent Dale. Much of Upper Wharfedale is owned by the National Trust and is composed of dry-stone walls and barns, important flower-rich hay meadows and valleyside woodland. Renowned for its walking routes, this region is home to the famous Dales Way, which passes close to Buckden Pike. The village itself is comprised of a cluster of stone built cottages and houses set around a traditional green. The village is also home to the famous 'Buck Inn' - a Georgian coaching pub that retains much of its old charm.
Reviews
"We took our 2 dogs here at the end of September for a week and had a relaxing time in a lovely cottage. It has everything you need and they leave you milk, tea and biscuits which is a lovely touch. To wake up each morning to this remote beautiful place is great. Stream at the end of the garden. Garden is enclosed though for dogs which is helpful. We went many walks from here and it is the best area around for scenery. Take everything with you as shops are a drive away. No mobile signal but a phone box for emergencies, Wifi signal good. Would definitely return."
"Even better than we hoped for, the property is beautifully presented, I wanted to walk on the Dales Way and this was well placed. We looked for somewhere quiet and off the beaten track, cottage was perfect. Would definitely book again. Only downside? No public transport or local taxis, so you will need a car if you want to go anywhere apart from relax locally, which is what we wanted to do."
