Reviews
"We had a warm welcome from the owner who showed us round this lovely cottage. The furnishing are all excellent quality as are all the utensils and crockery in the kitchen. There is a nice conservatory looking out into a private garden. Spotlessly clean and within an easy walking distance to Bolsover Castle which we would recommend. Also, only 5 miles from the Airavana flight simulator experience, something else we highly recommend."
"My Husband and I had a lovely week in Millers Retreat. We were made so welcome by David and Beverley. The Cottage is immaculately clean and very comfortable. It is home from home in every way. The sun room is delightful and we enjoyed every morning watching the birds at the feeders. They even have binoculars and a bird book. The shower is a luxury you can sit down in it! You can have your very own steam room and plenty of hot water. We were lucky enough to have some sunshine and had the pleasure of sitting outside in the lovely garden. It is in a great location only 5 minutes walk to all the shops, restaurants and pubs. Bolsover Castle is a great place to visit and had a very good event when we were there. Nice little coffee shop too. Wetherspoons is a good pub. The food is actually pretty good for a chain and the drinks are cheap. We would highly recommend a stay at Millers Retreat."
"We have stayed at this property 4 times now as it is such a delightful place and we were thrilled to find it better than ever on our latest visit. There has now been a beautiful sun-room added which is superb for watching all the bird life in the garden or just relaxing. I can't fault this property, we have stayed in a few holiday cottages over the years (being senior citizens now) and this is the only one we have ever returned to. Excellent value."
"Miller's Retreat is by far the best equiped, and most enjoyable cottage we have stayed in. The accommodation was superb, the fixtures and fittings excellent and the garen somewhere we felt very happy to be in. Although we didn't get to meet the Lady of the House, we found the Man of the House exremely friendly and helpful all of whic added to the enjoyment of staing in this charming cottage. Its easy access to the countryside enabled us to appreciate the beauty of the Peak District."
"We stayed here in March. This was our 2nd stay at Millers Retreat. The owners always make such an effort - nothing is too much trouble for them. The cottage itself is the best holiday cottage we have ever rented. Wonderful kitchen with all mod cons -3 tvs!!! Shower experience out of this world! Comfortable living area with lots of books & puzzles & games to enjoy, Beautiful bedroom large bedroom and a lovely warm cottage. The garden was perfect for our doggies and we could watch all the birds on the feeders from the large patio windows. We enjoy walking and there is so much to do in the area. Cresswell Crags, just down the road, is a delight. Poulter Country park, Teversal trails and many more walks close by. Thoroughly recommend Millers Retreat and hope we can visit here for many more years."
"This is the first time we had used sykes and we couldnt have chosen better accommodation Everything was first class, high quality, comfortable and wonderful hosts who made us very welcome The retreat was quiet but there was lots of interesting area's to visit all in all a wonderful experience I would highly recommend this property"
"I have stayed here previously and had no hesitation in returning, it is a wonderful place to stay. The cottage is furnished to a high standard and is within easy reach of local amenities and excellent transport links. There is a lovely secluded garden should you get the weather to enjoy it. The owners are friendly but unobtrusive. I would highly recommend this property should you want to stay in this area."
"Owners very welcoming together with milk and wine in fridge etc. Very clean, warm and comfortable accommodation with pleasant garden. Amazing shower! Would definitely go again. Located close to Bolsover which had all the amedities we needed but not touristy. Close to Hardwick Hall and Chesterfield and not far to Bakewell and Chatsworth. Lovely countryside and scenery."
"Excellent holiday cottage, very high standards throughout. I have stayed there more than once and expect I will revisit again. Good access to road networks. Lovely garden (when weather permits) watch out for the sparrowhawk. The owners are friendly without interfering."
"We had a lovely holiday in this cottage. The cottage was the best we have stayed in. It was clean, spacious, very well equiped with everything you could possibly need. The owners were very welcoming and friendly, but never intrusive. We took a young baby with us (4 months) and the cottage was ideal. Plenty of space for travel cot in the main bedroom. We picked the location as it was near the Sherwood Forest and enjoyed walking around this area. Found quite a few places we could visit and walk with a pram. I would definately recommend this cottage to others."
"We chose this property as it was convenient for visiting our son who was celebrating his 40th birthday that week. It was really wonderful with lots of little extra touches such as a box of tissues in each room and binoculars supplied to watch the varied birdlife in the delightful garden. The owners are really helpful and friendly, even bringing us some chopsticks and warming trays when hearing we were having our son and daughter in law over for chinese take-away. The cottage is in the town of Bolsover with its castle and is in easy reach of the M1. We had an excellent week there and would recommend it to anyone at any time of year."
"Accommodation was superb and centrally located for places to visit. The owners very friendly and helpful and the thought that has gone into what is needed in a holiday cottage is second to none"
"We've stayed in many different self catering holiday cottages over the years, but I can't think of one better than Millers-Retreat. Well done to the owners for providing such a high standard. We will definitely be returning."
"Millers Retreat is an excellent cottage. More than we could have hoped for. We only stayed for one week but would have loved to have stayed for a month. Its a beautiful cottage, there is nothing negative to say about it and the owners were really nice and friendly. We loved the garden with all the birds visiting. We were within a couple of minutes walking distance of the local shops and the castle which was really worth a visit. We could buy everything we needed locally. We need not have left the location at all and some days we didn't go too far. We would love to go back for another visit and I hope that we will soon. All in all one the best holidays that we have had."
