Reviews
"We were lucky to stay at Bryngarth house for a week in May 2017. It was a biannual family holiday bringing us all together from far and wide (including relatives who live in Germany). There were 13 adults and 5 children under five years old. We were all so impressed with the amount of space; cleanliness; amenities; comfortable beds and incredible views Bryngarth had to offer. Although the house is very imposing and kept very clean, it has a very warm/homely feeling that induces relaxation. The kitchen is so well equipped and large with a very modern 'American style' fridge/freezer; double fan oven and microwave above. There is also a large separate fridge and a freezer in the games room. Plenty of crockery, cutlery, utensils, pots and pans. A note for parents with small children- there are plenty of plastic plates/beakers and some children's cutlery. The only difficulty we had was the hob next to the aga- numbers rubbed off dials and difficult to control (stayed hot long after being turned off). There is a very good dishwasher and a second one in the boiler room, along with the washing machine. There is no tumble dryer because the boiler room is so warm that the hanging clothes drier and stand alone ones enable to dry washing overnight. A good sized breakfast table in the kitchen seated 8 people (fine as we all ate breakfast at different times). Bedrooms are mostly very large & nicely decorated. One bedroom downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs have en-suites; two bedrooms have a Jack/Jill arrangement and for the remaining four bedrooms there is a large bathroom with double shower and bath. There are also 2 separate toilets with hand basins downstairs and 1 upstairs. The dining room is even larger than it looks in photos and you can easily seat 20 around it comfortably. Lounge is large, spacious with plenty of seating and a very large TV. The children enjoyed sitting on the leather bean bag found in the library/snug room. Plenty of parking at the front of the property. There were 7 cars there at one time and still parking for more. We were unable to make much use of the garden because we experienced a lot of wet weather. However, there is NO POND at Bryngarth now and just a rockery in its place. As a family would we recommend Bryngarth? Absolutely yes! We would return in a heartbeat. Also, the owners, Tracey and Tom were very likeable, down to earth and very helpful. Any small problems were dealt with immediately. Don't hesitate to book as you won't be disappointed!"
"I booked Bryngarth for my husbands 50th Birthday weekend away. We stayed with 17 adults in 9 bedrooms. The house is just amazing. It was very clean and all the rooms are well maintained and spacious. We stayed in the master bedroom which had an amazing view over the countryside and a bathroom which was the same size than the bedroom with the bathtub under the window. At first you can actually get lost in the house ( yes it is this big) We self catered the the whole weekend and the kitchen was a great place as it has all you need in there. It has 2 large fridges and freezers, 2 dishwasher, large aga, 2 ovens, enough cutlery and plates and glasses. We used the dishwasher which we were all glad for and the modern fridges which were able to deliver ice cubes and chilled water. Also the dinning room which the large table was great as we easily managed to sit comfortable 17 people around to have a nice celebration. We also loved to chill out in the spacious living room. As we were lucky with the weather we could also use the patio and chill out in the sun. Everyone had such a great time that we planning to return to the cottages at one point in the future. A big plus was also pay 2 nights and get the 3rd night free on sykecottages. Unfortunately we have not seen the owner or their son who was suppose to come around and explain us a couple of things. We did not mind as we figured everything out. The owners otherwise were very helpful over the phone when I rung with questions such as sainsbury delivery or other deliveries we had. Overall I can give 5 stars for everything"
"We felt very comfortable from the moment we arrived . Very impressive as you turn up the drive . Well equipped kitchen and utility room with two dishwashers and washing machine The main lounge is huge with views over the countryside . The long dining table feels very grand and easily fitted us all around . Plenty of bedrooms and corridors for the children to explore . The grounds are private and were covered in spring flowers on our visit . Day trips to the Gruffalo Trail , Puzzlewood and Kingfisher Cruise at Symonds Yat then back for a drink on the patio to see the sunset whilst waiting for our meal ( That we all took turns to cook ) ."
"Recently stayed with extended family. 20 from 5-81 years old. Great property with original features. Comfortable with large rooms. Fantastic views out over to the black mountains. It's billed as disabled friendly which we needed for grandma who's is wheel chair bound. The ground floor room is accessible via the back which is a bit tortuous to get to and the ensuite is a little small... But it worked for the short time we were there. I would say that it is in need of a little maintenance, particularly the kitchen which is very tired. There is a nearby chicken farm which does occasionally impose its smell when the wind turns in the right direction. Overall very good accommodation. "
"I stayed here in a group of 20, teenagers and adults. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. The rooms are all of a very good size, some of the bedrooms are massive. The kitchen was modern and contained everything you needed, the dining room table seated us all easily. The whole house is well decorated, not at all "tired" looking, so you feel very comfortable in it. But most of all, it was very clean and always warm, an essential in January. In addition, I left something behind at the house and the owners were extremely helpful and kind to arrange for it to be sent back by post. Thank you for a lovely week."
"I was invited to join a group of friends for a party weekend at Bryngarth - and it fitted the bill perfectly. The dining room sat us all for the Birthday dinner which was presented by outside caterers. They did an amazing job, particularly since a guest turned on the immersion switch which promptly cut all the electric to the kitchen just as they were preparing the food! The owner was with us in minutes and made a good job of fixing the problem with profuse apologies - it all makes for memories and tales to tell in the future! The caterers remain cool as cucumbers (atleast on the surface) and simply switched to using the AGA - the food was great! My friend an I shared a twin room with a bathroom along the hallway - as you might expect with so many people and old plumbing the shower was OK, but the water pressure wasn't the best and when we tried the bath, the water wasn't piping hot (hence the immersion switch incident!!). The beds were comfortable and our room was light and airy - at first we were non-plussed to be without an en-suite, but we soon got used to it. The house and gardens are stunning and if you exit the property from the far left field gate you can walk along the pavement into the village and local pubs. We also did a great hike around the local villages (accessible by bus or, like us, you can walk to the start and add a mile or two onto the total) ending at the Axe & Cleaver for lunch and back via The Pilgrim hotel for afternoon tea! The entrance to the property is TRICKY from the main road and particularly in the dark!!"
"We have recently rented this house for a gathering of friends. It was perfect. Huge lounge, dining room & kitchen complete with Aga. The 9 bedrooms are all very large & comfortable. There are currently only 4 bathrooms but they owner advised come the summer there will be an additional ensuite added to the bedroom downstairs. The owner is very very helpful, ensuring we had extra high chairs and warning us on our day of departure of a major traffic incident locally. Location is beautiful, views are stunning but difficult to walk out from the cottage, you really need to use your car. Monmouth well worth a visit, very pretty little town."
"We stayed here all 18 of us aged 6 months to 82 years and had a fabulous time. Well equiped house with enough space for us not to get on top of each other, owners were very helpful with regard to wifi (essential for teenagers these days!)We had caterers in on the Saturday night (Rococo) who again were very good. Only negative side was the entrance/exit (which was not well signposted)onto a busy road on a bend. Also limited bathrooms/showers for the number of rooms and number of people."
"The house has a large amount of rooms which can cater for a large family or gathering for a special occasion. Plenty of parking for all only problem can be the entrance of the drive because you leave and enter onto a main A road. As we had children we used the second sitting room as a play room for them, which left the main sitting room mostly for the adults. The dinning room can cater for everyone who is staying in the house with no problem. The bedrooms are all of a good size and have double beds in all rooms, the only bedroom which is a problem is the one downstairs because it has no bathroom on that level only toilets which you have to walk to the games room. It had great views from the front facing rooms over country side."
