Reviews
"Picture this. Trapped at home for months on end, at the mercy of circumstance. Having no luck securing a property anywhere and having given up hope. Then, a well timed phone call from Gordon saves the day. Needless to say, we as a family had a terrific time at Moorgair cottage. A tranquil abode in a serene and dramatic landscape. A happy place in a very unique part of England, with its own distinct identity. I think it's fair to say we will return."
"Moorgair has every comfort you need for a week away. Gordon was a very helpful host. The setting is delightful. The cottage was cosy and warm and we enjoyed exploring Hexham and surrounds. We will be back!"
"A really warm and comfortable stay in this lovely cottage. Well equipped for cooking Christmas dinner and with a well behaved wood burning stove to add to the atmosphere. Plenty of parking and outside space, and the added bonus of alpacas to talk to! Thank you for a wonderful Christmas holiday!"
"After a long drive from Dorset we were very pleased to find a lovely clean house with all the things we needed and more. It is lovely and quiet and it is very peaceful. It is very close to hexham and waking up to all the wildlife is very theraputic. There is plenty of room for parking and there are lots of different places near ,such as hexham abbey,to explore."
"My family of four had a wonderful week at Moorgair cottage. The house was very clean and had everything we could have wished for. We had plenty of space and it was a good location to explore the area."
"After a long drive from Wiltshire it was great to find the cottage easily, and not far from Hexham with its shops and restaurants. The cottage itself was ideal for what we wanted, with lots of space, and in a quiet location. There were plenty of places to visit, not too far away, with easy driving, on quiet roads."
"This was our first stay here and it was everything we expected beautiful location very quiet and peaceful. It was situated not far from the various places we decided to visit during the week. The cottage was lovely and cosy everything that you needed was to hand including a washing machine and tumble dryer in the summerhouse. Gordon the owner was very nice and helpful and highlight of the week was being able to feed the Alpacas he has on his land."
"This is a fantastic cottage. It's a little off the beaten track - with all the advantages that brings - dark skies, walking from the front door, quiet location. We went in April - so breakfasted to the sight of lambs playing in the field outside the window. Just lovely! Decor is really good. It's neat tidy and extremely well presented. As holiday lets go, it's up there as one of the best we've ever stayed in. It's well heated and cosy - we turned the thermostat down while we were there despite visiting during a cold snap. Gordon, the owner, farms from next door and is really welcoming and helpful. It's well located for pretty Corbridge and Hexham, and within easy striking range of the wall and associated sites. Just down the road is the Rose and Crown Slaley, community pub with cracking food and excellent beer. Ten out of ten from us, would absolutely recommend a stay!"
"We visited the cottage for a week with our 2 kids. Gordon was a total gentleman, very very helpful, friendly and polite. The cottage had everything we needed and worked very well for us, The location was fantastic, out of the way enough to feel very quite and away from things, but close enough for meals/drinks out etc as well as being within easy reach of Hadrian's Wall, Beamish, the beach etc. We would highly recommend it and may well be returning! Thanks Gordon"
"Fabulous cottage,Clean and so relaxing . Lovely walks and lovely meal in local pub. Second time we've been.Owner lovely . Would highly recommend Cottage . A little piece of heaven in the country ."
"We were in need of a holiday after a very hectic year. This cottage was just the place. It is adjacent to a working farm, but we never heard a thing,it was so quiet. The cottage is well-equipped and the beds were so comfortable that we slept in some mornings. Hexham is about 6 miles down the road, you can get the train from there to Newcastle which is a beautiful and very friendly city. The cottage was an ideal base from which to go out and about. Gordon, the owner is very approachable and pleasant. I would have no hesitation in recommending a holiday here."
"We really liked Moorgair Cottage and its very helpful owner Gordon. The cottage was very nice and comfortable and more spacious than the photos suggested. It was in a lovely and quiet position in the middle of the countryside but in easy distance from Slayley (nice pub), Hexham (bustling little town with an interesting Priory) and Corbridge (where we had our best meals of the week in Ilpiccolo). Also great walking country around Hadrian's Wall. Very much recommended!"
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moorgair. The cottage was just as described. There were only 2 of us but I could see that it would definitely be a suitable place for a family. The cottage was very clean and well appointed with good quality furnishings. Nice comfy beds. There were many little extras - tourist info, books & games, videos. Even milk & shortbread waiting for us on arrival. Moorgair is ideally situated. We were visiting from Canada and used the cottage as our base for exploring the Hexham area and the Holy Island coastline. It was a pleasure to meet Gordon and enjoyed talking with him. Of course the Alpacas were an added bonus!"
"We had a lovely week in this beautiful cosy comfy cottage with wonderful views, the furniture and contents are to a high standard. Gordon is a friendly accommodating host, who tries to make sure everything is as you need it. Meeting his Alpacas was a delight? Sitting in the cosy lounge with the log burner going while watching a DVD was a cosy delight indeed. The local village shop and pub are also great, both of which are community owned. The friendly community feel was wonderful. We had a relaxing peaceful week and are eager to return."
"We had a really enjoyable stay at Moorgair. It is in a lovely location on a farm which if you have children is great as they can feed the animals , especially the Alpacas . The cottage is clean , well laid out with lots of facilities. It was an ideal base to explore the attractions. Very convenient for exploring Hadrian Wall . Gordon was very friendly and helpful. There was so much to do and see that we will book it again as we did not have enough time to see everything ."
"Moorgair is a delightful cottage set in the peaceful Northumberland countryside. The bedrooms were ideal for our family of 4 (2 kids under 5) and downstairs was cosy and welcoming. The kids quickly got to exploring the garden and spotting the different animals on the farm. The location is perfect too, Alnwick, Durham, Sunderland & Bamborough were all about an hour by car. There's plenty to see more locally too with Hexam and the stunning Corbridge on the doorstep."
"Enjoyed a fabulous week at Moorgair with its location ideal for seeing so many sights nearby. As a family of 5 the cottage suited us perfectly and was a lovely place to relax after a busy day seeing so many places. Looking forward to returning as we didn't manage to visit everywhere!"
"The cottage is a short drive from the town of Hexham and is set in some wonderful countryside. The accommodation was all and more than we had hoped for. The cottage is beautifully decorated, is very clean and had all the comforts one could wish for. The owner is delightful, always willing to help, even technophobes who have trouble with tv remote controls!!! There are a great number of leaflets offering insights into local gardens, walks and other places of interest. We were fortunate to be able to stay for two weeks, and an indication of how good the property is, is reflected in the number of repeat guests that stay. A perfect property, an idyllic location and a very nice owner, perfect."
"I had a very good time. Everything was in tiptop condition. Clean and tidy. Very nice owner. Very quiet location. Lots of things to see and do in surrounding area. Hexham is a lively place with a lot of shops.there are national trust and english heritage properties in a radius of 30 minutes."
"For peace and tranquillity, Morgair is the perfect location. The landscape is stunning and there are so many and varied places to visit from castles to beaches and villages to cities and, of course, the early history - Hadrian's Wall and its Roman history has something for everyone. Lovely cottage with everything you need!"
"My husband and I have used holiday cottages in the UK and Eire for many years but Moorgair Cottage has been our very best experience yet. Not only is it in such an idyllic rural location for exploring the outstanding Northumberland countryside and historic sites of interest (of which there are many!),but returning to Moorgair, at the end of an eventful day is like slipping into something cosy and comfortable. Such is the welcome feeling of the place. The owner, Gordon and family, have made every effort to provide all the comforts and amenities you could wish for. From strenuous adventurous active holidays to simply relaxing and de-stressing this site is perfect. We are already planning a return."
"We spent 5 nights at Moorgair and appreciated the amenities. Tea,coffee, shortbread, washing up liquid and sandwich bags were appreciated. Gordon was friendly and helpful. Cottage was clean and warm which we needed in the bad weather. Would recommend it and go again."
"A fantastic cosy cottage hidden away in the North Pennines/Northumberland border. It was a great base to do some walking and exploring of the local area. When we arrived, in the snow, it was toasty warm and beautifully decorated. Accommodation was of a very high spec and well equipped. Having a log burner, washing machine and dryer was a definite plus. The owner was very friendly and helpful and I would certainly recommend Moorgair. "
"Homely. Clean perfect cottage Owner very friendly and helpful. Nice walk to country pub were home made meals were served . Booked up for next year"
"Had a great time staying here, it's a lovely location close to lots of Northumberland's great attractions, plus we had a great time at the County Show. And there's a secret attraction at Moorgair - they have their very own little herd of alpacas, our favourites were Folly and Copelia x"
