Reviews
"The cottage was really welcoming; clean, comfortable, warm and cosy. We cook a lot when we're away and the kitchen was a good size and well equipped. The fridge is on the small side but was fine for the two of us. It's in a beautiful peaceful location and the views from every room are stunning. Lots to see and do; we went exploring all over the island but always looked forward to getting home in the late afternoon to settle down for a quiet evening. I can see us returning, it really is a little slice of heaven."
"Terrible service. Multiple calls and emails to owner, no response. No heating - the place is extremely windy and cold. No hot water in the shower. Old place that looks nothing like the photos of the interior - do not waste your money."
"An excellent cottage...perfect for pets...very quiet and in a remote location but still central with easy access to all parts of the island. The only criticism we had was for the small fridge. We had a week self catering and took a lot of food stuffs with us for the week, only to find that the fridge was far too small. There was only two of us so I don't know how four would cope. The kitchen was a good size and had plenty of room for a full sized fridge/freezer."
"Second time we have been to Gillie's cottage and it will not be the last, Love everything about the cottage the area and Skye. Location is second too none."
"We really enjoyed our stay at The Ghillie's Cottage. There were three adults and one dog in the party. The coffe, tea and lovely ginger biscuits were a lovely welcoming gift. The cottage itself is in good condition and clean. There was everything that you could possibly need .Initially on our arrival the cottage was quite cool but within a couple of hours and for the rest of the week it was lovely and cosy...a pleasure to return to in the dark evenings. One complaint would be that in the room with the double bed the storage heater did not work but in fairness an oil heater was left for us. The cottage is about 2 miles of the main road along a single track road which was in great condition. The front door is very difficult to lock but at no time did I feel safe.Perhaps the lock could be looked at.The isolation, I felt, was part of the enchantment of the cottage. My husband liked the loch to the rear of the cottage and fished there a couple of times. We visited in November and unfortunately most of the tourist attractions were closed. This did not stop us from finding places to visit and places to eat. I would recommend this cottage if relaxation and serenity is what you are looking for.The bedrooms are upstairs therefore it would not be suitable for a disabled person The Shepherd,Robert, visited us and gave us lots of information about the Island. He made sure that we were comfortable and was a real charachter. Would I return?Definitely."
"Booked online, excellent service with comprehensive details on access to property and who to contact. Owners very helpful and visited on day of arrival. Shepherd also came and recommended various places.Cottage brilliant, very comfy and warm and very well equipped. Loved the fact that our dog was made very welcome too! Ideal for walks, we visited the Coral Beach near Dunvegan, Talisker Bay as well as Portree and Broadford. In fact hoping to return to property during 2012. The property is isolated, no mobile phone coverage but this didn't detract and the sound of silence punctuated by wildlife and sheep was exquisite, can fully understand why so many people have moved to the island or return to visit!"
