"The accommodation is fantastic and spacious - so much so we have stayed three times over the last three years. It is modern, clean and fresh and well equiped. The owners are friendly on arrival and the scones on arrival are a treat. We stayed with our springer spaniel and enjoyed food at The Bridge in Dulverton (booking needed on a Saturday night) and enjoyed walks at Tarr Steps and all over Exmoor. Would highly recommend and look forward to staying again."

"Ideal location, and an exceptionally beautiful place to stay - private, comfortable, and with all the little finishing touches that make a holiday or weekend away perfect. The grounds are just stunning, with incredible views of the gorgeous Devon countryside rolling away into the distance. It was so lovely to sit outside on the terrace eating the most delicious home-made scones, feeling as if you've stepped into another world, free of stress and traffic and all the strains of modern life. The hosts are incredibly thoughtful and considerate, going above and beyond to help out with everything, including picking me up from town when I couldn't get a taxi. The food is all home-made and locally sourced, from the crusty bread to the jam and those amazing scones! I've stayed here several times now, and I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be."

"We had high hopes for this lodge and all were exceeded. Simply walking inside, you feel at home. There can be no negatives said of anything of this accommodation. The kitchen has absolutely everything you need, there is plenty of warmth both from heating and the fireplace and the grounds are lovely. We could have easily stayed longer and would recommend this as a stay. The Devon countryside is simply stunning and the location is ideally placed between things to see. The hosts are simply lovely people who made the stay exceptional. Thank you Mr & Mrs M!"

"We wanted / needed a break that was not too far from home (east Somerset), somewhere which was comfortable, would accept our very calm Labrador, and from where we could explore a variety of places; East Anstey, near Dulverton, and Knapp House specifically seemed to fit the bill - what a brilliant choice we made! Stapledon Lodge was exactly what we wanted - to describe it as shabby chik touches on its character but does it an enormous injustice at the same time as there's nothing shabby about this home - quiet, comfortable, very nicely appointed throughout, with the most accommodating hosts imaginable, always available but never 'in your face'. Being close, but not in any way troubled by, the owners' horses, sheep, and other signs of the 'Good Life' was an added unexpected bonus. An excellent touring base - easy access to Dunster, Porlock, Lynmouth, across to Clovelly and all points in between - this is a wonderful location. If there's a draw back, it's the lack of a good eating pub within easy walking distance, but Woods in Dulverton is very highly recommended!"

"A beautiful lodge with accommodation which was on a par with a five star hotel. Hosts provided a welcoming cream tea and the week was very enjoyable indeed."

"We had a great week at Stapledon Lodge. Accommodation very stylish and comfortable. A free supply of logs was most welcome as the weather was cool and it was good to cozy up in the evenings. The owners were very helpful and nothing too much trouble. The cream tea on arrival was a nice touch and proper loose leaf tea too! The lodge is in a great location for exploring Exmoor and with Dulverton on your doorstep it's just a short drive to the shops or to indulge in a meal at Woods, definitely our favourite bar/restaurant. I went riding at Pine Lodge stables a short distance away which was a very good experience, super horses etc. We often go to Exmoor and wouldn't hesitate to stay at Stapledon Lodge again."

"Couldn't have had a more friendly helpful welcome. The home is splendid with high ceilings and full of character and we found it very peaceful and relaxing. Location was good and central for visiting lots of places. There was nothing we didn't like about it an excellent place to stay."

"Ideal country cottage for walking - Devon was lovely and plenty to do and see. Good pub nearby in Dulverton - easy walk on nice day. Weather this year excellent - only summer we had in 2011 - which made the holiday. Lovely coastal walks. Cottage very clean and pretty well stocked."
