Set amidst towering cliffs and located between the Hope Valley and Bradwell Dale, the village of Bradwell is a pretty little settlement situated within the Peak National Park. Bagshawe Cavern - reached by 130 steep steps – is located on the edge of the village and is a reminder of the town's mining history. Nearby are the famous Peak, Blue John, Treak Cliff and Speedwell Caverns, whilst the David Mellor Design Museum can be found in the nearby village of Hathersage. The picturesque town of Castleton is just three miles away and is overlooked by the crumbling Mam Tor, or 'Shivering Mountain', with the dramatic Winnats Pass. Bradwell itself boasts shops, pubs and places to eat as well as close proximity with the other activities of this area.
Reviews
"Our first stay in the Peak District. Absolutely loved it and found this wonderful cottage just erfect for our needs in terms of accommodation and location. Very well equipped, loved the extras of DVDs and CDs catering for all ages. Bedrooms very comfortable and lounge especially so. When we come back we will definitely stay here again. If we had one minor issue ? Sort the toliet flush out but this did not distract from a great stay."
"We've just returned home from a week at 3 Ingleside Cottages, Bradwell. We booked the cottage to visit family in Sheffield and celebrate our Grandson's 2nd birthday. You park your car a metre from the front door of the cottage, and further public parking is on-hand just 20 metres away (outside the Bowling Green Inn) if your party has more than one car. The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival. The sitting room is very comfortable with an open fire (if you need it). The TV is not the most modern, and could do with an upgrade to a flat-screen, but there's a good choice of channels (on Freeview). We found the kitchen/diner equipped with everything we needed. However, the table and four chairs have to be "opened-up" from a compact cluster arrangement before you can use them, and the chairs aren't all that comfortable. The bathroom is very modern and has a bath and shower (a lovely shower). The bath isn't full size, so you might only be able to sit up in it, rather than stretch out. Two good-sized bedrooms ... comfy beds, large wardrobes and plenty of drawer space. We found Housekeeper, Julie, very helpful and obliging, She'd left us a note for us to contact her on arrival because of an issue she'd identified with one of the radiators, and then came round immediately we phoned her to sort it out. The "Bowling Green Inn", almost next door to the cottage, offers a selection of real ales and serves up truly delicious pub-grub. We highly recommend it, and you can enjoy superb views across the Hope Valley from their restaurant as you tuck-in."
"Booked this cottage at the last minute for us. We have stayed in Bradwell before but not at this cottage. Great Location for shops, inc. Co-op, hairdressers, bread shop and post office. The cottage had plenty of room and was very comfortable - very easy to relax in. Small private garden at the rear - very pleasant! Plenty of room in cottage and well stocked with items. Yards from local pub - recommend Quiz night for a good laugh. Parking outside cottage. Hike up the hill and across the fields to Castleton for good exercise! We would recommend this property and will be booking again!"
"A delightful, well appointed comfotable cottage, as above, which was warm and cosy and in an excellent position. The Bowling Green pub next door was very welcoming and had excellent food and beers. so the whole weekend was great. We tried to book it again in May, but it had gone! We will try October!"
"Loved the cottage, although the weather was freezing the cottage was lovely and warm. Very well maintained and what looked liked just re-redoecorated bedrooms and bathrooms. The stairs are steep, so if you have small children you might want to bring a stair gate. Spoke to the owner over the phone, he was very helpful and they even left us a bottle of win and coffee as a welcome. Thoroughly recommended."
"I could quite happily have moved into this cottage and never moved out again! Lovely cottagey feel, lounge was really comfy and the new modern kitchen provided everything we needed. Bathroom was new and well designed. Bedrooms were cosy and homely. The garden was a suntrap, but we had to keep a watch over the dog due to the quite high drop at the grass edge. Would probably not be safe for small children unless a small fence were erected next to the ledge. My husband and I did not have a problem with the steep stairs up to the bedrooms, but my mum struggled with the steepness of them - not ideal if you need to go downstairs to the loo in the middle of the night! Again, these would be unsafe for small children (I believe this was pointed out in the brochure, but as we don't have small children, it wasnt really an issue to us - I would not choose this property if I were to bring my small grandchildren) The location is perfect - plenty of walks and convenient for driving to places of interest. The service we received from Sykes holidays - as previously when we went to a property in Yorkshire a couple of years previously - was faultless. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff at Sykes are friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend Sykes as a company, and the properties that we have stayed in."
