Reviews
"Nice cottage with great walks and things to do nearby. The lovely owner made things extra special leaving eggs, bread, butter, wine and homemade scones. The snow falling on the Derbyshire Dales made it even more lovely. Our dog loved it and had great walks along the Cromford Canal and TIssington trail. A nice pub within walking distance was a blast from the past, like stepping into the 1940's! But a great pub about a mile away serving homemade food called the "Miners Standard" Will be booking again!"
"Compact, Clean, Comfortable and Convenient for excellent local walks, as well as Matlock, Bakewell, Hardwick and Kedleston, this is a lovely cottage, well equipped, with friendly and helpful owners. Red Lion at Birchover is an excellent local brewpub, community shop in Winster for necessities. Maya the Collie loved walking Lathkill Dale, Chee Dale, Stanton Moor, Longstone Edge etc"
"had a great holiday, Carolyn was so friendly and helpful, there was fresh bread, eggs. milk, butter, wine and a lovely home made lemon cake on our arrival. cottage was lovely and clean. the private garden was perfect for our dog, and the area was superb, the perfect base to explore the peak district. Would definitely book again"
"Fantastic hospitality, cleanliness without any faults, comfort and friendliness - not to miss if you plane a holiday in the Peak District. Lots of walks and intersting places on your door step. We were able to take our Golden Retriever with us, and that makes us feel as if we were at home! The owners are really very nice and helpful! Thank you for a very nice stay!"
"Great place for a couple in a very quiet village. secluded garden area, good walks from the door. great cycle tracks within a couple of miles. So much to see and do within 30 mins travel. Lovely owners and very welcome bread, cake and goodies to help you settle in. Highly recommended"
"Barn Cottage was very clean & comfortable with everything provided that would be needed for a relaxing holiday. It is in an excellent location for exploring on foot or driving to attractions in Derbyshire."
"Absolutely faultless! Caroline the owner was a very nice lady who obviously takes pride in her letting and Healy touches like cake and starter bits were thoughtful and scrum my!"
"This little place is a positive haven. Everything & more than what we wished for. Dog friendly too with lots of walks on the doorstep. With home baking by the lovely owner and extra goodies left for us we felt so spoilt. We are hoping to return as soon as we can find time."
"We received a friendly greeting from the owners, which made us feel at home immediately and a further welcome awaited us indoors in the form of milk, bread and butter, tea, coffee, home-made cake and even a bottle of wine! The property was clean; the bed firm and comfortable; plenty of storage space; and the kitchen equipped with all the bits and pieces one could wish. Although the secluded garden at the rear was surrounded by hedging, obscuring the view, the owners were very pleased to allow visitors to enter their own garden via a gate and enjoy the view from there. For those wishing to leave the car behind, it was only a short walk to the main village street which was well served by the local bus, giving access to Bakewell and Matlock. We liked everything about the cottage except the sticking stable door to the garden, but this wouldn't stop us coming back to enjoy anothe holiday in this lovely place."
"The description of the cottage was accurate. The hostess was very welcoming and the home made cakes made my birthday celebrations even better. I would recommend this cottage to anyone."
"The owners were very welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. The welcome pack was delicious and very useful. The property was in an ideal location to explore the peak district and close to many major attractions. There were lovely walks around the area aswell. The enclosed garden was ideal for sitting and our dog. The accomodation was clean, warm and vry well equipped. No hesitation in going back."

"We had a lovely time at the Barn Croft Cottage. The owners made us feel really welcome. There was wine bread butter and cakes for us when we arrived and we were given freshly baked scones as we were leaving. The area is great if you have a dog ,we were able to go in any pub for a meal with our dog and were made most welcome everywhere. We would highly recommended this cottage and location."
"The service we received was excellent as was the welcome.Anything we asked about was answered and all in all an excellant place to stay. Lovely cottage well equipped, warm and inviting. Charlie our dog loved teh walks. Friends and family we visited us we most impressed."
"Weve given Barn Croft the full five stars because on the whole it deserves it. Carolyn the owner was so very thoughtful with a lovely starter pack inc wine aned then in the middle of the week scones and a lemon cake! what kindness. The cottage was just about the right size for the two of us with a great garden to sit in. Location was very central, 15mins to Matlock and 5 to the miners pub. If I was being very picky, we are used to a 42inch plasma so we found the TV hard to see, if that was put right then you would have the perfect cottage for a stay!!!"
"From the moment we were met by our hosts we were made to feel at home. They had thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable. The cottage was clean and well maintained and within easy reach of local attractions and set in a lovely village surrounded by beautiful scenery. We were supplied with basic essentials on arrival and treated to tasty home baking during our stay and even left for the journey home with a freshly baked cake! A wonderful base to explore the countryside and lovely to relax in after a long day walking."
"Very helpful and friendly owners. The wine and homemade scones and jam which awaited my arrival were much appreciated and enjoyed. The cottage was very comfortable and located in a very peaceful area with splendid views. I could not find any fault with this cottage, the owners or the area it was located in."
